That whole fake-an-injury-to-get-Laughton-on-the-team thing was a stroke of genuis by Giroux.
- Feanor

He's really fun to watch. He constantly is chirping the other team before the face off with this little smile/smirk on his face. Granlund looked annoyed with him at one point.
Suter just ignored him.

Watching Suter patrol the blue line last I kept thinking what if. He is a legit #1.

Disagree on Grossmann...watch him from around 6 or 7 minutes left last night, the plays he made to get back..and the one where he flew in behind the net to beat a wild to the puck and clear...I defy anyone to watch that and tell me he's a sloth.

Agree on Coby.

This one.

Zacha, Strome and Crouse are the big, skilled LW's that would go around 4-10. I'm really liking Svechnikov for a pick outside of that range.

But even if they take another pure C, I wouldn't mind it.

- Tomahawk

That was the Flyers' go to move before the quest for a top defenseman became a thing.

Out of curiosity, I looked at the Flyers' drafts going back to 2000 and looked for guys drafted by the Flyers as a wing that actually played wing for the Flyers. I came up with this list:

Justin Williams
Stefan Ruzicka
Steve Downie
Claude Giroux (yeah, I know he's a center. But he did play wing at one time)
Andreas Nodl
JvR
Jon Kalinski
Eric Wellwood
Tye McGinn

Another draftee by the Flyers, Patrick Maroon, never played for the Flyers.

Throwing out Giroux and JvR (because he was such a high pick), that is not a great list.

I'm a charter member of the MDZ fan club, but if his camp gives even the slightest inkling that he won't be an easy re-up, I'd move him at the TDL or the draft for something nice. The only way they can mess this virtual no-lose situation up is by paying him more $ than they should.
- Tomahawk

Gotta believe the ask is gonna be at least $3.5, and if I was an agent, I'd go for $4, maybe even $4.25-$4.5, if he comes back strong

You down with that?

Zacha and Strome are more natural centers and playing C this year, right?

I'd prefer they not go in the direction of a Crouse. We'll see how he does the rest of the year, but he is too much the kind of guy they always draft - big, physical guy that might have less offensive-skill. Is he the guy in the Hlinka tournament? So far having an underwhelming season.

I sat next to a nice lady last night who was clearly only there for the pre game ceremony. She said it was her first Flyer game since the Lindros era. She was embarrassed to say she didn't know a single player's name on the current squad.

I think she had a kind of bliss of the ignorant thing going on in regards to the current team.

I agree. I really want more natural wingers over the next couple of drafts.

I still like Strome with our 1st round, 6th overall pick this year though

all 6 D were pretty good except the awful play by Amac at the end and the failure of Luke to pick him up after the turnover.

In reality the other likely outcome is they would have lost in the shoot out.
Should have won that game though.

I wouldn't remotely put 1 before 2, 4 or 5. While Schenn hasn't been what was hoped and JVR is doing well, Schenn has played well at times. Ellison was a total wash. Walker was always hurt (and yes i get that was a salary cap trade), Eminger was moved right away. honestly I only cared about the Carcillo/Upshall deal because the Flyers included a 2nd rounder which was ridiculous.
- nastyflyergirl

I get to see JVR all the time. Some nights his does really well (like last night), but surprisingly a lot of nights he just floats around. I am going to assume this is why the flyers traded him.

Just so you guys are aware the less talented panthers won last night and are now 1 point behind the Rangers with 2 less games played

That is a tough one -- believe it or not, I think if they are all healthy, Coburn could get moved for forward help at ES or picks

I love the guy, but to be honest, that is what I would do

I want to see him signed to a two year deal to give Ghost time to develop.

Hopefully no more then 2.5-3.5 per year.
He is needed to move the puck, but not sure he is a 4+ M guy yet.

So, at the game last night, had a nice Coburn basher. His main line was (and I quote), "Coburn is ass!!!" He sometimes switches things up with, "Schenn is ass!" or "Grossmann is ass!" When I commended Coburn for his hit that led to the rush on the first goal, he replied, "He's ass!" Gotta love Flyers fans.

Oh, and if any of you were that guy, you're a (frank)ing retard.
