Well, I've heard a lot of outrage, from non bias media members about Brassard's deal. Yet nothing for Spezza's deal. Forget about the fact Brassrad is 4 and a half years younger than Spezza. - tomburton99

I really have always thought that the belief we are desperate for a #1 center is rubbish, we are fine with Stepan and Brassard as the top 2, IMO |

WTF with the Bolts losing to NYi
And Toronto?
Hmmm perhaps they aren't such a
Powerhouse as some (them) would
like us to believe.
Just makes the Rags shyte effort
Even more apparent. |

I think the Lightning maybe were feeling a little too good about themselves after shellacking the NYR |

To he honest, spezza is the better player even at 31 and its not even close. Spezza's career low in points outside his rookie year (where he only played 33 games) and the year he played 5 games is still 8 points higher than brassards career high. The man has 704 points in 705 regular season games and 52 points in 56 games. He's one of the top 15 centers in the league. |

I kind of agree with both you and Jimbo. I have no problem with Brassard and Stepan as the Top 2 center, buts when you don't have a truly elite guy at the position, I like the idea of having 3 guys that are basically 1a, 1b, and 1c. I think we had that last year with Richards, Stepan and Brassard, and I the Rangers need someone to step up into the role vacated by Richards, whether it be Hayes, Miller, someone acquired via trade, etc. Because at the end of the day, if either Stepan or Brassard get hurt, the Rangers are hurting at the position.

I think Hayes has showed flashes that he can definitely develop into that guy
the biggest problem we have down the middle is the lack of a faceoff master who is on the ice in big spots |

Conor Allen has an even plus/minus in 12 games as a comparison

I read that too, he looks like a bust. And more bad news, looks like Keegan Iverson has really regressed this year too.

I am not one of those guys who gets too wrapped up in the Tanner Glass thing either way, however I don't think AV liked Dorsett a whole lot and obviously he thinks highly of Glass, I wish I could see why. |

You remember that scene in willy wonka where Charlie finds the golden ticket then runs home so no one can steal it. That is how I imagine Glass back on July 1st, singing I got the golden ticket as he ran home. |

Same reason he loved Pyatt.
They have history together. One thing AV is, is loyal. |

Yup, when healthy theyre both a good 1-2 punch. But when 1 goes down, were (frank)ed. But that would be the same case if we had crosby and stepan as our 1-2 punch and one if them went down and force moore to play top 6 minutes. |

To be honest, I really don't know. I haven't caught many Michigan games the past couple of years, as I usually end up at Plymouth Whalers games with the kids when we have the chance to go catch a game. I told you guys about Halversson last week, after the Whalers played the Greyhounds.

I think anything outside of the first round, you are just looking to hit on a few good picks here and there -- i.e., the expectation is that only a smaller percentage of the guys you end up picking outside of the first round, will be good NHL players. Indeed, if you go 1 for 4 (or something like that), you are probably doing pretty good.

Here it is, over a couple of posts:
Off topic, but I saw Brendan Halverson last night in the Plymouth Whalers/Grey Hounds game. Its only one game, and the first time I have seen the kid, but he seems really solid and smooth. Made some really good saves, although the Grey Hounds laid waste to Plymouth. Obviously, it's going to be a real long time before he sees the Rangers' net (if ever), but the Rangers might have a real good prospect with this kid.
….
You know, I've only see him play one game, so there isn't really too much you can take from that other than an initial impression. But, one of the things that I noticed was that he seemed real big I the net, plays a little deeper, and has real quick pads. Made a lot of pad saves. Also, real smooth -- not a herky jerky movement type guy, but real fluid. This is his first full season manning an OHL net, so we'll no more by the end of the year, especially with his team really having a chance to compete for an OHL title (if anybody can beat Erie).
