Nino, Perron, Tlutsy are the 3 I am most interested in. Cheap, established, lowest cap coming back of just about any name thrown out there. Looking at the list of names today, Cole, Semin, Yak, Eberle, Kessel, Jags....no to all. - sammy87
I agree with those 3. Maybe even add Ty rattie, but other than that who knows. It would take a lot to grab most of those guys and it just doesn't make sense. |

Creative. But I'd want Carolina to retain salary to make it an even swap cap wise.
and even at that.. still too much term on Semins deal, especially as bad as hes looked this year, for my taste - YouMeAndDupuis9
If they could at least retain $1-1.5M I'd do this deal. I've already posted here and Semin has B.Ryan like numbers. A little better numbers actually....and I'm talking about +/- as well. |

Past results are not a guarentee of future results
I actually wanted to prusue him when he was a free agent (not at $7M of course) but he was a healthy scratch in CAROLINA this year. Gotta let that sink in and then add a long term contract the equivalent of Letang's... |

The hawks would move Hossa in a second if they could move that contract. That will be an albatross in the next year or two. He is already starting to slow down and his cap hit will continue to count against their cap whether he retires or not. - mw630
It was not an over 35 contract, so I do not believe it will count against their cap if he retires. That was the beauty(bullpoop) of that contract, the cap hit will be high, but his actual salary might be low enough where he just walks away and retires and then Chicago is out of the contract. He will only be getting paid $1 Million per year the last 4 years, so if he slows down enough and doesn't feel like playing is worth the $1 Million, and who knows he might be able to get more than that in Europe, he will retire. |

Nope
If he retired, The Cap Recapture is what would get them, an example, if he retired after 2 more seasons, they would have a Cap hit of 18.9 million spread over the remaining 6 years of the original deal
It's the "Luongo Rule" They'd have been paying him 7.9 million salary with a 5.2 million cap hit for 7 years
that 2.7 per they saved has to be accounted for via cap hit
If they traded him tomorrow, they'd still be responsible for 5 years of 2.7 million if he retired early... |

The Pens roundup said they won't be calling anyone up within the next few days unfortunately. |

Yah I know, I'm just impatient. I would like to see some roster movement here. Watching sill is just arduous at this point. It takes a lot out of me not to punch someone when he takes the ice. |

It would take a lot to get him. He is one of their few producers. I wouldn't be shocked if they asked for a top level prospect and a 1st just to start the conversation. - usethe1-2-2
Yeah, he won't be cheap, but I like him.
Phoenix will likely resign him. With a tight budget you can sign your own RFA cheaper than trying to replace that production through free agency. |

Mikkel Boedker. 1 year left at 2.55M and then he's an RFA. Arizona likely won't want to pay him very much. He'd be a great fit with either Sid or Geno. (Probobly Geno because he's a left handed shot) If he can put up good numbers in Arizona, imagine what he could do in Pittsburgh!
- Pens8729
One of those guys I think is completely ideal in our top 6. But theres a reason I never bring him up... Arizona is not looking to move this guy in general, and if they did they would want more scoring. I dont think we are good trade partners. Otherwise, sign me up 100%.
edit - hes basically Grabner with better hands |

To be honest, I am not opposed to giving up a 1st for someone young and ready to make an impact, has a good contract for multiple years. The 2015 Pens 1st will probably be a mid 20's pick that wont make an impact for 3 years? Or he could be another Esposito bust. I dont like giving up a first for an Iginla type deal. |

I think we all would like that, but I can see why they are in no hurry. The team is playing well, and without Dupuis they just beat the best team (point-wise) in the NHL, 4-0, in Montreal.
And Islander games have gotten chippy in the past, maybe the type of game that you want Sill around for (whatever that's actually worth). Maybe he can get Hamonic off the ice for 5 minutes or something. |

I feel like given his speed Megna could grow to be useful on the PK if he blocked shots. I'm of the mindset that given consistent time with the NHL club he could take Adams' spot as early as now. |

Call the Pens coaching staff and ask them if they think bringing Megna up to take Adams spot on the PK is a good idea. |

I believe that they are the catalyst for HIS shortcomings, but regardless they are still on MAF. HE should not have altered his game because of lack of support, but I guess that's just being human. Trying to over compensate for others shortcomings is still an error in judgment on his part.
F Starters - nbartley9
He has always been a nervous Nellie even in his junior career. If he learns to handle the pressure as an adult good for him. He needs to learn how to relax in goal, he is pretty hyper.

Why? Bennett can move up and Megna could take his place on the third line, possibly. What else do you suggest? |

You have Crosby and Kunitz playing together, also with a guy who once scored 24 goals and looked alright this season. Malkin gets our best winger like always so at least hes a little happy. Our third line is playing great and 2 good penalty killers on our 4th line which is also playing good. Adams 305 or somthing and counting. The team is 13 and 3. Everyone just wants changes for the sake of changes. |
