I hate the one game logic.
We lost to the Rangers 5-0, everything is wrong!
We beat the Rangers in a shootout, we are the best team! Don't make any moves or try to improve! We beat Montreal 4-0 without Dupuis, clearly we don't need him! - YouMeAndDupuis9
Make a move or two ... Agreed!!! But what's the urgency is the point?! |

Alright you late night crawlers, why would a playoff aspiring team like Winnipeg trade their best player? Why would NJ trade Jags to a division rival? |

They wouldn't. FWIW, Tiops is reporting the Pens have kicked the tires on Stafford and Stewart. Now those are realistic. Don't like Stewart though. Has talent, but doesn't show up every night. I'd do Stafford if the asking price isn't too high.
If the Devils fall out of contention, they'll trade Jags to the highest bidder whether in the division or not. Frankly, I don't want him after 70 regular season games.
I never, ever thought the Pens had the players to get Kane. |

And I actually buy that because TIOPS is parroting Bob McKenzie there - he used that same wording a couple days ago.
I actually think Stafford is a great fit. He's got the inconsistent label, but it's hard to show up ready to work every day in Buffalo. He's got history with Crosby, he's another right handed shot, and he's big enough to be useful in the playoffs, though he doesn't always play to his size. |

People forget how good you can be when you play for bad teams. Pominville is a prime example of that. He was fading away in Buffalo and is now one of the best and most hardworking players on a team that has Suter and Parise.
With that said, the price still has to be pretty cheap relative to the rest of the possibilities. |

I'd be highly interested in Antoine Vermette.
How do you keep Sutter and Bennett together while getting Bennett into the top six? How about a line of Bennett/Sutter/Malkin. I actually think that line would work really well. Bennett and Sutter already have chemistry. Malkin can feed off of that and be the shooter on that line.
Then with Vermette you can roll out Comeau/Vermette/Downie for a pretty nice third line and Spaling/Goc/Adams as the 4th. And Vermette can replace Duper on the PK. |

It's not much different than the one injury logic. One injury does not mean that you go out and make a desperation trade in November.
It also seems like a lot of folks in hurry to make a trade to replace Duper are the same folks who wanted to make a trade because Duper supposedly belonged on the third line.

While that would work, Vermette would be a tough get. Again, just one of the few producing for AZ. |

Yet here you are proposing trades for Stafford, Vermette, etc. just like everyone else haha.
Plus, the injury thing is a little different. Dupuis is out for the year and there are no known or likely internal options. I think its a worthwhile discussion as a trade is likely...no matter when it happens. |

I'm just throwing names out that are halfway realistic. But I'm under no illusion that the Penguins are in a hurry to make a trade. |

What's the history between Crosby and Stafford? Btw I always thought Stafford sucked. I don't know If I'm crazy or not but I'd rather have Stempniak back @ $0.7M than Stafford.
I'm willing to give Stewart a chance If the price is right. Under the right environment he might flourish. |

I mentioned that line and NOBODY said anything. Clearly my idea was dismissed.
Sutter-Malkin-Bennett
Vermette is a pretty good option! |

Not dismissing he'd be a good target. We're just not good trade partners with Arizona |
