Yep, I don't think the FO is going to play desperate and hurry up to make a trade. That's how bad-value trades happen.

They'll play it out for a while, keep the feelers out. By deadline time or a couple weeks before, they should have some targets available.

I would say that as far as non-roster players, Pouliot, Kapanen, and their 1st should be off the table. Unless it's someone who has no business being available (Pacioretty, for instance - I'd trade Pouliot, Kapanen, and the 1st for him because he's young, has tons of term on a bargain contract, and I think he and Malkin would be sick together), they're just not going to get value back that equals the potential of those assets, especially considering that those assets could become key pieces on the cheap over the next few seasons.

kap should only be on the table for a legit top 6 young signed player, like pac/eberle/etc. poiliot for the same. the 1st I'm less worried about... anything can happen in the playoffs but making it to the second round at least is likely. a 20+ pick for the right piece that increases our chance of making it the 30th pick would be a-ok with me... pens "cuboard is less bare than most think.

I believe the cupboard is less bare, too. That includes WBS. Dea, Rust, Sheary, and Megna all could get callups at some point. Dea, Rust and Megna are all having really good years at WBS.

As far as Kapanen goes, I feel like Kapanen is going to be a better player than a guy like Eberle, and pretty soon. I just don't feel like he's risky, he's got instincts and he'll compete, that's 75% of the battle right there.

So if Kapanen (and I feel the same about Pouliot) were to be available, it would have to be for someone dynamic.

I'm less attached to holding on to the #1, but it's a deep draft and they'd get a really good forward prospect even at the end of the first round.

I don't see the point in any large trade at this point in time.

Next year, Martin and Ehrhoff can leave and, if we keep our prospects, we can continue to have a strong defense at a lower price point when they are more prepared for the task. In addition, if the Penguins wait to trade their prospects, they will be able to determine which of those prospects can perform at the NHL level.

We don't need an exceptional winger. Crosby and Malkin significantly improve the players around them. We need enough forward depth to remove Craig Adams and Zach Sill from the starting lineup.

Eberle = Maatta

Eberle = Harrington, Kapanen, 1st

Eberle = Pouliot, 1st

At those prices, no thanks

Yeah man, that's a lot! In fake GM World I'm not doing any of the three. Just found it interesting his name is out there and made me appreciate being an underachiever where I don't need to make that decision.

I think this years trade will be reminiscent of the Stevens and Mceachern trade. It'll sting and make us wonder for a bit.

Is this a Joke? It better be. Kunitz > Neal.

Hossa....Guerin...Hörnqvist (so far more games with 87)

BS comment

- Barnaby36

Ill give you Kunitz. Hossa one playoff run while Malkin had Sykora and the best version of Ryan Malone there ever was. Crosby got Brian freaking Gibbons and Lee stempniak last year while Geno had Jussi and Neal. Now he has Hornqvist. Always gotta keep the Russian happy.

I'm working the ND hockey game tonight and Pierre McGuier is in the press box and I don't know why. I just want to throw chips at him and then ask him how Old Man Ruth is doing as the Pens' GM and what he would do if he was in his place

So Voyanov was charged with a felony today. Think we could send a D their way and get a top 6 in return? If so, who?

He's playing better, but if they want him they can have him.

They just don't have a forward that the Penguins could use who the Kings would give up easily.

I don't buy that. Even when we signed Satan and Fedotenko, #81 was supposed to play with Sid. That didn't work out very well though.

I would pay for flight expenses just to take Scuderi there. Not that I hate him but I'd rather see Bortuzzo or Harrington playing everyday right now.

Thing about Scuds is, even though he's playing well now, it doesn't mean he will be this time next year.

Just to clarify, the Pens are one of the best teams in the early goings of the NHL regular season with Pascal Dupuis on the roster. They now don't have that player and thus must adjust, one way or another, whether that means trades now, trades at the deadline, waiver wire pickups, or WBS call-ups....hence having discussions about it.

I guess we could all come on this board everyday and say great job pens! Go pens! Pens are the best! That sounds fun and interesting.

Last November and December, there were 8 total trades. The biggest names to move were Ladislav Smid and Kris Versteeg. Even January and early February featured little action, with Del Zotto being the biggest name moved.

The year before there was pretty much nothing doing from June to January.

They're going to wait it out for multiple reasons. And then they're going to trade for a rental.

My money's on Drew Stafford.

Well, they were one of the best teams without Bennett. Bennett's return kind of helps offset Dupuis being missing. I mean, they just smoked the Canadiens without Dupuis.

Chill bro... I previously posted that patience was warrented. Just saying what I'd consider moving for the right piece if a great deal came along. Dp and kk are great prospects... But just that.... A young top 6 might be worth it.

I hate the one game logic.

We lost to the Rangers 5-0, everything is wrong!

We beat the Rangers in a shootout, we are the best team! Don't make any moves or try to improve! We beat Montreal 4-0 without Dupuis, clearly we don't need him!
