who is RNG? And dude....that line completely contradicts everything you were trying to say earlier. Way to once again start back the circle of stupid.
- ChetManly

You Oilers fans wow! You referenced D men they drafted during the years they took all forwards with their 1st overall pics yet none of those Dmen have done squat! Back to the beginning simpletons... I said that Nuge was the wrong pick and that Yak was the wrong pick. I said their drafting was flawed in that they focused all of their #1's on offense for far too long. You countered that they did indeed draft dmen, although Petry is the only one they have drafted currently playing in the line up and he's been subpar... Hopkins and Hall havent gotten it done. They've never sniffed the playoffs! Seguin went to dallas and turned them around in 1 year! Similar situations. But the difference is Nuge isn't a number 1 center and he wont carry a team, which is why fans are clamoring for a trade to bring in Thornton or Staal. That goes back to my original point that Hopkins was the wrong pick for the team at the time. RNG.. isnt he related to brett burns???

Calgary turns things around in a couple of d seasons with just a couple of top five picks?
- kaptaan

Calgary had just one top five pick, Money was 6th overall.

Nope, we would be banned. I find nothing happens if you report people either.

And yet none of your arguments hold any water because they keep regressing not progressing!

So by that glorious logic they should have made the playoffs already, or be making them this year because you know their offense is so prolific that it trumps everything else. And you know hey, Dallas did the same thing last year so you never know... lol wow!!!!??? Dude their drafting, or at least their draft strategy has been flawed hence WHY YOU CONTINUE TO BE IN THE BOTTOM OF THE LEAGUE YEAR AFTER WONDERFUL YEAR! And really the teams dreadful record with Nuge as the top line centre continues to prove my point. They are actually worse this year!!! As regards to their highly vaunted D, why did they feel the need to trade almost all of them away if they were so great in the mid 2000's??? Genius!????
- mnhockeyguy

Not sure why we're arguing with you anyways...... Your franchise hasn't done sh!t since being back in the league and didn't do much of anything before that.

- Your drafting sucks much like the Oilers.

- You've been able to attract high end free agents, Oilers low end free agents. Not much success from either side.

- I'd trade a 1st round exit for bottom of the league but still front office disappointments on both sides.

So at the end of the day..... the Wild and the Oilers suck

Question. How many draft picks of the Oilers over the last 5-7 years have gone straight to the NHL?

I think proper development is definitely hindering you guys.

Yes keep singing the same tunes for another 4 years... by then Yak will be gone, Nug will be the 2nd line center where he belongs Eberle will be gone and half the D they are trotting out will be gone. That is the only chance they have to turn this around by then

You literally missed every single point that's been said so far. Way to go. I actually never said they should have made the playoffs. I said that their d picks never panned out though.
Since 2004, out of the first two picks every year, the oilers have picked 13 forwards and 9 dman and several goalies. I believe that seems extremely balanced.

When Dean Lombardi felt the LA Kings were ready to take that next step he traded the likes of 5th overall pick Brayden Schenn, 3rd overall pick Jack Johnson, 2nd round pick Wayne Simmonds, a 1st round pick and a 2nd round pick for the Richards and Carter.

Granted they had Kopitar & Quick for six years, as well as a few others, but they made the move and it put them over the top...and it worked. Maybe the Oilers need to do the same?

You guys think they're at that point? Not to win a Cup but to take that next step and compete for a playoff spot.

Yeh, aside from Eberle these super kids have been thrown into the NHL with no one to learn the pro game from.

Except that one team is trending towards being a serious stanley cup contender and one team is getting progressively worse cause their drafting has by and largely been terrible. I mean do you not realize what the rest of the NHL and fans think of your team and how the front office is doing!?

EXCEPT ONCE AGAIN WE WERE TALKING ABOUT THE DRAFTS UP TO THE YAK DRAFT! I READILY ADMITTED NURSE WAS A GOOD PICK BUT THAT WAS LAST SEASON. THE WHOLE ARGUMENT WAS THEY NEEDED MORE FOCUS ON D EARLIER THEN THEY DID, HENCE WHY THEY ARE AT THE POINT THEY ARE AT.
