FLyers won't be taking on 5.5 mill cap if they don't get rid of VInny or Umberger
- Winning

I would trade Luke, Read, and Umberger

For Myers and Stewart

Stewart is UFA ( Buffalo will loose him) he is a buddy of Simmonds see how he works out for the rest of year and he brings an edge to his game
Sabres would get Read and Luke. We get Myers and rid of Hamburglar

Why were they brought in, in the first place?

Berube is a moron yes, but the course of bringing in players who simply cannot live up to their contracts have been a theme for much longer than Berube has been HC.

Hell, who made Berube HC?

By all means though, lets go yell at the players to skate harder because they are making the club look bad.

Yup, the same one that never misses a PP shift and is always shifted up in late-game situations regardless of how poopty he's played at ES, how many times he's thrown the puck around blindly in the NZ, and how many board battles he loses.
- Tomahawk

So how should Berube use Lecavalier? On the PK and in D zone draws?

Lecavalier is the only player making bad plays with the puck, or losing board battles?
This is the team and the players that the coach has been given to work with.

With Umberger and Vinny playing 1/3 of the hockey games. No wonder we look flat and lose.
Why do they play 18minutes a game

- Winning

That'd be because Chief puts them out on the ice for that much time per game. Not sure what he sees that I don't, either that or he's smoking some good peyote!

A lot of people would do that. I don't think the Sabres are on of them.

1- They're two of the three highest cap hits on the team.

2- Who else do we have other than Phantoms?

3- IDK.

He should staple his arse and Umberger's to the bench or the press box...Chief does make lineup decisions correct?

I mean...I'm splitting hairs, but Hextall sure as poop didn't build this team.
- Giroux_Is_God

He did not, but by all accounts he made a piss poor trade with Umberger/Hartnell and gave Rinaldo an extension. Not off to a blazing start, but again very early to form an opinion.

The point here being is, this tirade of the GM or Snider going down to rip the team they (frank)ing assembled has been happening every year for how long now. Maybe look yourselves in the (frank)ing mirror first. Or in Hextall's case, look at your bosses instead of ripping your own players.

And take that (frank)ing sign down. Old boys egotistical country club.

Horrific yes. I am no fan of Berube, but he did not put himself in charge of this club.

I actually am kind of liking the Rinaldo extension. He hasn't been a detriment to the team for the most part.

Players who don't "do things our way" shouldn't be "getting time here"... as per the sign:

What goes for Arty, should go for Vinny. They don't care who you are, remember?

I am starting to side with you to be honest. In terms of defending the players. Know what? I despise LeCavalier and many of the others. However what the (frank) do you want them to do?

Drastically improve who they are, and their skating, etc? Not happening.

Maybe don't (frank)ing sign them in the first place.

I missed where Hextall had some shifts last night. He has every right to rip those players for putting up a terrible effort. My boss lays into me if i do a half ass job.

I don't care if every player is a scub. Bringing effort isn't a skill.

Well Hextall should do his job and make this team better. Don't make bone head trades but make smart hockey deals, shake it up.He can obviously see something is not right. This team isn't a total Sht box it can be more competitive. I understand the " patience thing" but it doesn't mean we have to be subjected to a team with no edge and no signs of life ( other than the 1st line) on a consistent basis

I understand the Hartnell move - wanting to shave off a year from the cap. What I don't get is the timing on either.

Why not hope Hartnell has a decent season, then move him at the TD where you may be able to pick up a younger player and/or picks?

The Rinaldo extension is simply beyond baffling.

Please. Lets get (frank)ing real. Hextall is not running this team alone. Look at who is above him. Its the same old country club.

Can they play better? Sure! So could have the teams over the last 9 years. The story on the ice with the team has been very similar for a long time now. For me, the time to blaming the players have come to an end.

Look above that. Or lets just go make more poor trades and bring in a new coach/philosophy. Bush league country boys club.

He's scored 41.1% of his points on the PP so he's sort of a PP specialist in a way but I think if he played with a playmaking center or LW, he would be much better off at ES. He is a supporting player, not a guy that's going to create space.
- NickTheKid87

Simmonds was 21st in ES points last year among all RW's in the NHL. That's first line production without playing with a first line center at ES.

The point isn't that he laid into them. If this was the first time in 5 years that has happened fine.

It has been happening every year, like (frank)ing clockwork for a long ass time. Maybe its time for the boys at the top to look themselves, and their bosses in the mirror.

I think, if Hextall could make a deal that helped the team now, without hurting it in the future, it would have been made. He's not intentionally tanking, but he's not going to make a short term move, unless it has no future ramifications

that is last year. Yes he had a great year. But will that be the norm for him or is he more of a PP specialist. I am not sure. but i have seen guys turn in one career year and then get their again. look what Clarkson did.

Hexy's got Snider saying the P word... gotta believe the old man has finally realized that they can't go for broke every year any longer.
