Key

X-axis: Zone Starts (higher the #, the more time in o-zone)
Y-axis: Competition (higher number = tougher)
Color: Corsi Rel (blue = good, red = bad)
Bubble Size: Team Goals For/60, aka how likely the team has been to score with said player on ice

This tells me Coots isn't a black hole, like I read on here last night.

I'd like to see him a little farther right on the graph, but man....what a tank he is at 22 years old.

EDIT: Look at Schenn. Surprisingly stellar. Should I go so far as to saying he's having a pretty damn good season so far, even with all the criticism he gets?

EDIT v2.0: I firmly believe Coots' CORSI is poor because of whatever is ailing Read. If you put last years' version of Read on that line, along with Schenn like it was a couple games ago before Raff went down, you're looking at a shutdown line that can score some goals.

Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment is threatening " life time ban" from venue if fans are caught throwing jerseys on ice.
If your paying 20 bucks a beer , 250 a ticket and the product is continually crap then I say do what you want. Throw your Maple crap jersey on the ice
We could always trade them RJ

I recommend throwing management on the ice...maybe if they stack enough of them up they could stop a puck...

I don't want to see the organization give up on Coots either, but i don't think he has the offensive prowess/potential that many posters in here believe he possess. Yes, he lit up juniors, but there are tons of players that do and then don't in the NHL. Whether it is due to the lack of support on his line (though when Read is his usual self he is more than adequate), too focused on the defensive side of things or just insufficient finishing ability, I really can't put my finger on it.

I agree with you here. As I've said before, how much incrementally does Couts give you versus Laughton?

I don't want to give up on young players either, especially since they are 2-3 years from truly challenging for the cup, and that assumes their stable of young D prospects grows into the roles we think they can.

But at some point, the Flyers need to do a portfolio re-balancing. Their pieces just don't complement each other. Some of it is the dead weight - Vinnie, RJ, etc. But some of it is not having enough skilled players, not enough natural LW or wingers in general, and conversely way too many centers. Last night they fielded something like 7 natural centers. That's just crazy, in my opinion.

As I've said all along, one of Laughton or Couturier will need to be moved long-term. If Couturier brings in a bigger fish, then I'm ok with it.

You realize that hockey is a team sport right? While you have 2 elite forwards, that doesn't mean your entire team is overall more talented. Florida hands down has more offensive depth. And their 5th defenseman (and probably 6th) would be a top pairing defender on the flyers.

I stand behind the players 100%.

For far too many years now, we have seen a recurrent theme of inconsistency and in general, not being good enough. Of men asked to do more than what they should, and so on and so forth.

The GM or Snider going down to rip their team to shreds is like clockwork every season, just have to wait for the game. Frankly, if I was a player, I'd have tuned them out long ago, same as that stupid sign.

For all the blame that gets put on Berube/LeCavalier/Umberger, which I do agree with, they did not make themselves part of this club. They are not the men that have continuously handed out overpaid contracts to players that cannot live up to them. The piss poor trades, many of which that have to be made to simply shed salary are not a fault of the players.

While there are far too many issues on the ice with this club, they have for far too long began with the men upstairs. I am hopeful for a change in how things are run, but this team is run like an old boys country club. Not holding my breath.

Players and coaches are turned over at an alarming rate.

His (and Read's) possession #'s aren't even bad... slightly below the team avg despite usage that is tantamount to abuse.

Most players will fall along a main sequence curve... from bottom-left to top-right. Guys in the upper left and lower right quadrants tend to be outliers. In the Flyers' case... extreme outliers.

Yeah, doing pretty well -- a boon to most lines he's touched this year.

Buffalo fans would like the moon in return for him. When ek hinted the Stars were in on Myers, Sabre fans wanted 1st round pick and Nichuskin.

Not B Schenn..L Schenn
I just think Myers has more upside than Luke. I doubt Vinny would waive his NTC to go to the beautiful city of Buffalo

or Vinny plus pick for Tyler Myers retained

Yes.. but Buffalo wants way more than that... and they wouldn't want Vinny's contract

Which is why I cringed when Hextall apparently lost it on them last night.

Its childish, egotistical and bush league. You are your bosses built the team. You deserved to have the results shoved up your ass. If I was a player in that room I'd have bee laughing inside and tuned him out.

The second one, yes (if it wasn't a 1st). I don't think the Flyers can afford to trade B Schenn right now, unless you'd want Rinaldo in your top-9.

With Umberger and Vinny playing 1/3 of the hockey games. No wonder we look flat and lose.

Hextall built this team? I disagree. He inherited this team.

Also, the GM can build the best team in the world, but if they aren't out there busting their asses, that's not on the GM.

Why were they brought in, in the first place?

Berube is a moron yes, but the course of bringing in players who simply cannot live up to their contracts have been a theme for much longer than Berube has been HC.

Hell, who made Berube HC?

By all means though, lets go yell at the players to skate harder because they are making the club look bad.
