Their seems to be a lot of dead weight on this team right now.

Couturier, Read, Simmonds, VL, Umberger are 5 forwards that simply are not getting it done.

On the PK Couturier, Read and Coburn are not getting it done.

Defensively short of MDZ and a quietly consistent Streit no one is really having a solid season so far.

It's a long season and they haven't even played 20 games yet so Im willing to wait a bit more but it's frustrating to watch right now..

Interesting. Can you elaborate on your choices?
- jmatchett383

Well it's order of preference.

I'd prefer a nice order of buffalo wings over the other two options. I enjoy wings and as mentioned before, a well done order of buffalo wings needs no bleu cheese.

Next, I'd prefer Eric Lindros. Maybe he's good for an autograph that I would hang proudly in my basement.

Thirdly, I'd prefer Bruce Campbell. I simply do not know anything about Bruce Campbell, so I chose him last.

Ryan? Kucherov? Kuznetsov? Nyquist? Patches? Perron? Okposo?
- RAGSareDANGERus

Hell no to Bobby Ryan on that contract.
Nyquist, Patches, and Okposo I'd consider. Probably not to the rest.

You, sir, need to watch Evil Dead, Evil Dead II, Bubba Ho Tep, and the second-to-last episode of TNT's TV show "Psyche."

Really? I had no idea hockey was a team sport? Name me one forward on Florida that is better than the Flyers top 6. Who's it going to be? Jussi Jokinen? Brad Boyes? Give me a break...
- aantny88

I like how you omit their best players. Barkov, Bjustad, Huberdeau to name a few. Half your team are traffic cones: umberger, akeson, vinny, rinaldo, vdv, laughton. Those players really provide zero value. The panthers have kopecky, upshall, grimaldi, fleischmann in their bottom 6 which add morevalue on the ice than your bottom 6. Gudbranson is playing on their third pairing and would easily be a top pairing guy. You laugh at jussi but he would be riding shotgun on girouxs line.

I like the Panthers defense more than the Flyers but Florida's offense is a bunch of 3rd and 4th liners at the moment. In a few years, they could be really dangerous but presently I would take the Flyers forwards, Umberger, Vinny and all. Neither is particularly desirable though but time has a way of fixing these things with the right people in charge.

Key

X-axis: Zone Starts (higher the #, the more time in o-zone)
Y-axis: Competition (higher number = tougher)
Color: Corsi Rel (blue = good, red = bad)
Bubble Size: Team Goals For/60, aka how likely the team has been to score with said player on ice

I hope you are joking
Gardiner is so overrated. Would rather have MDZ at a quarter of the price

Conclusion: Michael Raffl is the best player on the Flyers.

When this deal gets done, JvR tears up his knee in his first game back as a Flyer and Luke Schenn becomes a Norris Trophy winner for the Leafs, who still manage to miss the playoffs.

Exactly my point...the previous post I made was about current talent and the Flyers forwards have it more than the Panthers, the corpses of Vinny and Umberger not withstanding!

What chance is there that some injury befalls Lindros/LeClair before the end of the ceremony tonight?

I have to wonder if they are missing Timonen and Hartnell more than we thought they would.

His on ice play aside, Timonen's workmanlike approach to the game, his toughness and heart and his no BS classy leadership are sorely missing IMO. Also Hartnell might not of been the fittest player, but he was well liked and he knew how to keep the room loose.

I was gonna post this after I finished back-reading. I agree with this. I think they underestimated this when they traded him.

By the right people, do you mean the guy who sought out and acquired Umberger, and openly admitted he tried desperately to unload Vinny this summer to no avail? I think it's gonna be quite a while before he convinces anybody he's not bent over the barrel.

Heck, I would see if they could put them in the lineup tonight, at least there would be some emotion on the ice...

Your more talented up top but the panthers are better in the bottom 6 is all I'm saying. Currently ahead of you in the standings too.

And when you factor in the defenses, the panthers are overall more talented. Imo.

Possibly. If the Flyers would jettison the dead weight of Vinny and Umberger, and insert younger players into the lineup I don't think they would be. Schedule makers be damned for giving them off 5 days in a row!

Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment is threatening " life time ban" from venue if fans are caught throwing jerseys on ice.
If your paying 20 bucks a beer , 250 a ticket and the product is continually crap then I say do what you want. Throw your Maple crap jersey on the ice
We could always trade them RJ

Honestly, a lifetime ban for a disgruntled Leafs fans might be a blessing in disguise. Sort of a "protecting yourself from yourself" kind of thing.
