I agree. I think VL has more to offer but Umberger can just be buried on the 4th line without complaint. He'd be suited for that role too.

They need to figure out a way to move VL this summer. Even if it means eating a little salary.

- PhillySportsGuy

Moving Vinny much easier but looking at Hamburglar and his 4.6 M on 4th line would hurt.

This lull in play is very frustrating, but I only have one thing to really say:

Glad Hextall laid into them, but I really think it should've been done during and after the Columbus game. That game should never have been allowed to be put on the backburner -- there needed to be immediate accountability for that performance

I'm definitely not super confident in his ability to craft a good trade right now. It's just one trade, but boy is it a stinker.

But hey, at least now we know they DON'T CARE WHO YOU ARE, NO SMILING AT WORK.

That (frank)ing stupid sign...
I think it is all about the Hartnell trade, sending a message.

The Chief I think hated Hartnell's attitude.

Stupid locker room power struggle.

Maybe if they weren't in such a rush to dump Hartnell they could of shopped around for a better return.

Infuriating really.

I think Couturier should be dealt while he still has high value. He is just as slow as Vinny and hes 21 years old!!!

What happened to that sign in the locker room at Wells Fargo? Are they not going to enforce it??
- GOA88

honestly, this is the vibe it gives off

The team just sucks personnel wise. Do I have some issues with Berube? Sure. But he's like 10% of the problem.

We are dressing almost 2 full lines of incompetent NHL players right now. Our D is a patchwork group of 4-6 type guys who have spent very little time playing as pairings.

This should all not come as a surprise. They will be a bubble team the rest of the year at best as they were last year.

That would be a foolish idea.

What needs to happen is he needs to get some wingers. You don't just throw away future Selke type players who are only 21. Only guys I try to hang onto are:

Giroux
Voracek
Couturier
Schenn
Simmonds
Laughton

Trade Couturier, Read, 1st rd pick and Coburn for Shea Weber.
- GOA88

Would you trade Giroux for Wilson, Jarnkrok Volchenkov and 1st round pick?

You've determined that Laughton doesn't look like an NHL player through 7 mins of ice time with scrubs after being called up with basically zero practice time with the team?

That Lecavalier is an offensive player. What is that based on? What leads you to believe that he can actually score the puck. My contention is that he can't score. Based on the 15 mins a night he's getting, the ample PP time he's getting. He's actually not even close.

But we've already formed an opinion on Laughton?

- Just5

LOL. Saying that he looked in the game like a player that isn't ready for the NHL, is quite different from stating definitively, that he's not ready.

Do I seriously have to explain what stating that Lecavalier is an offensive player is based on?

Ok you can claim, fine by me. I'm sure the ban hammer will be dropped any second. However for Shea Weber, you'd probably have to deal Couts, Laughton, Cousins and a few picks. Just like any team would be if trying to grab Giroux, assuming the flyers would even listen.

Well, clearly the accountability message has the team super duper motivated.

I think the best case scenario would be to trade VL this offseason, play Umberger on the 4th line next year then buy him out after next season.

Maybe the Flyers get lucky and a cap floor team offers to take Umberger for his last season if the flyers pay a little and throw in a mid round pick.

He had more ESP last year than players like Ryan Kesler and Tomas Plekanec.

This was my exact feeling when the trade happened. It's like Berube went to Hexy and said "we need to move him now. Right now. I can't stand him anymore!"

OK, do you really think he is a legitimate scoring threat?? He only shows flashes of decent abilities in that regard. I was all about him for awhile but he doesnt seem to be getting better. IMO. His defense is struggling too

Forgot Mason. Sorry

I would hold onto Raffl and Del Zotto too but i think they also could be trade chips if this team is out at the TDL. Del Zotto could have value if he continues playing well for a playoff team needing and offesnive dman.
