The local Thruway Authority director said on Channel 2 that they had the opportunity to close the Thurway even earlier, and they didn't. Decisions were also made to "wait out" the snow squalls before plows were sent out. Are they "no-brainer" decisions? Not necessarily. Did they turn out the be the wrong decisions? Absolutely. The only "second guessing" I'm doing is repeating what the people in charge are saying, which is "we made mistakes here".

Why the hell was your work even open? There are driving bans. Not to be a complete jerk, but it doesn't really seem like it's necessary to have an establishment like the one you work at open during that. The only reason I can see you needing to be there, would be to provide food to the emergency crews that are out cleaning everything up or shelter to those that have been stranded.

Emergency crews, and anybody that can walk there. If you run out of food, stores/restaurants within walking distance (if you're lucky to have them) are really the only option you have.
