out of college with a Civil Engineering degree, i was offered 4 jobs three in Indiana and 1 in WNY.. the three in Indiana were all within 3k of each other.. the one in WNY was about 15k less... plus i had my gf (now wife) here. that is the end of that story.

I've been down here for about 11 years now, started at the low end of IT work and have since moved up (1 employer change, multiple promotions) to where I'm making nearly double what I started at 11 years ago (not super impressive due to the "low" pay it was then, but still a nice stat)

I left in search of a job I couldn't have here, certainly not at that starting salary. Fortunate enough to be able to move back and telecommute with that same job.

Eventually, I'll need to move on... hopefully I save up enough to go work for a non-profit or something.

"Veteran centre Jason Spezza has signed a four-year contract extension with the Dallas Stars, the team announced Friday.

The Stars didn't release financial terms, but multiple reports said the deal is worth $30 million US."

Damien Cox @DamoSpin
Good for Jason Spezza. But four years @ $7.5 m for a 31-year-old on pace to score less than 20 goals this season?

Yes and of course you forget to factor in he's on pace for 72 points.

Seriously this guy is an idiot

I suppose it's what he would have gotten on the open market. It kicks in when he's 32 though, not ideal but he's done well so far. On the other hand this has final year buyout written all over it.

32-36 isn't completely horrible I guess, not for a guy who has proven he can be an offensive star.

Funny timing since I just saw a yahoo comment in the same vein:

Lmao. 7.5 mill per for a player thats on pace to score less than 20 goals. Sure was a great signing for spezza that is.

And probably 2-3 more years.

I'd say that deal is fine

You know he once suggested the oilers trade down from 1st overall (Hall) to a later pick and take a guy like Gudbranson or Fowler just so they could entice a team to take one of their bad contracts.

He's an expensive 2nd line center but once they get Myers they will be raising the cup

You just went there

Here comes the poop storm

Although it's looking more like the gonchar trade was to make room for this signing rather than a trade for Myers.

I'm still not ruling out a random trade from an unlikely team, it's usually the teams stuck in limbo that get super desperate, especially towards deadline day.

I still don't see it happening. We potentially have a championship caliber top 4 right now if they stay the course.

With the other assets (3 1sts, prospects) we should be able to acquire at least 2 top line players within the next off season

It's funny how you guys that live in SC and Vegas want to come back here and us that live here want to leave.
- mhp

I love to visit, but the odds of me ever moving back full time is 1:10,000

perfect situation, when I am rich, live in WNY from mid may to mid oct and then spend the rest of the year on the gulf

I still think they need a #1/2 d man

Myers or Risto on the top pair, not both IMO

Odds are pretty high he stays but it's amazing what can happen when a gm gets told he's on the hot seat. Suddenly giving up that blue chip prospect isn't so bad if it gives you a chance at keeping your job.

Say the Sabres finish dead last and win the lottery hypothetically speaking. What do you think it would take to get the 2nd overall pick ? Would Myers, Hodgson, the other 2 1st rounders and a couple 2nd rounders get it done ?
