The first key is the team needs to show up for the whole 60 mins. That is basically another 5 or 6 wins right there so far this year. Then Make upgrades from there. Shea Weber himself, doesn't save this team when the rest of it isn't playing the whole game from start to finish.

I've watched oilers games here n there... I watch probably a good 10-20 a season and bits of the rest. The team is exactly not that.... a team. They actually have good players (even outside of the big guns) but they lack that skeleton. That backbone. Does Ference and the other leaders not provide that? C'mon if calgary can play like that, why not the oilers!

That is the key word. TEAM. The flames as much as I hate those (frank)ers, work their a$$es off, buy into what the coach is telling them to do, and Hartley is flat out a better coach than Eakins. Plus I would put Hiller as a better goalie, so that right there makes them capable of winning any given game, on any given night, against any given team.

Well just by going through some of the comments on here... Some fans are saying they don't need defenseman. Which, if that's the case, then yes, the system is completely shot. I just think they all need to focus on their 2 way game. The scoring is there. If they can just play a better game in their own zone this team could be a force. The offense isn't going anywhere.

The Oilers currently have no leader, the captain is a vegan hipster joke and I'm sure the young players don't give him respect. They should make a HUGE splash for a centreman who is basically just handed the captaincy (I.e. Toews, Backas, m.Richards, etc)

It really is a leadership issue...the young guns should fear the arse-kicking that their captain will give them if they dog it...the young guns in EDM run the show...totally complacent.

Go out and find a General for these rooks.

Well I clearly misunderstood your negative statement of him being a vegan hipster, as I am not sure what that has to do with his leadership. You may however be right about his ability to be the captain the Oilers effectively. I think though that the has more to do with getting this team to play 60 mins effectively, than the captain does right now.

Giordano, Brodie, and Wideman are defensive core that Oilers can't even compare to since the Pronger days. Monahan is stud centre, who has actual has grit...Time to tank this for McDavid, then do a major trade with who ever except involving Hall.

Sure he says some pretty things about my team, but to suggest that the Flames are 20 games into a rebuild is hilarious. Incendiary remarks to say the least. A lot of our players have been Feaster picks, Hartley is a Feaster hire, pretty sure Iginla and Bouwmeester were not traded by Burke. When is a rebuild underway? When you hire a new GM, are you automatically back to zero days of a rebuild?
