(frank) if this continues how can they keep things the same. I don't know what needs to change exactly but something does. If MacT thinks the core guys are going to carry this club then Eakins needs to go. If MacT doesn't think this core can do it he needs to trade one of them - OilerFan16
Yep. Not sure what comes first but this is inertia - I fear tonight may have zapped what ever spirit they had left. |

well that's why I'm here. Do the Oilers need A) a #1 goalie B) defense C) Two-way forwards that will bring leadership and grit (for once) to the oilers.
All three Sens can afford to trade because they have excess is all areas (maybe not on D as much) - AlfieisKing
In order of importance:
They'd need a dman under contract for at least three years at around 6 million who can shoot the puck and is a left shot and can play 24+ minutes a game.
They need a veteran centre who's great defensively and has world class work ethic who can play in a 2C role for the next year and a half and then be a 3C on a more long-term basis.
The need a goaltender who can play 55 games a year in each of the next 5 years and provide at least a .917 sv% |

If the draft was today you guys would get Hanafin (sp)
Don't fck it up and have the choice of McEichel, you need a top D... |

I know we aren't making that big trade for a dman and I don't want to overpay in any sort of trade. I was leaning towards a coaching change - OilerFan16
Yet another coach and another system change?
I don't agree with all of Eakins decisions, but he's made some progress. We are close. |

You might think so but ottawa has an excess of grit/bottom 6 players - AlfieisKing[defensively solid] and lack top 6 forwards [scorers]... something the oilers have in spades. If the D return is good, I'm pretty sure it'd fit both teams....but i dont get to follow the oilers really closely and aren't sure if their going to turn it around this year (like I predicted) or not. IMO- eakins has to go at some point AND they should think about trading their 1st (at the right time only)... what do oilers fan think? I'm here to get honest opinions...............oh i also think they need help in managment... like Mac T but what exactly has he done ??
Grit/bottom 6 won't get you Eberle. My opinion on what they need in order
#1/2 d-man
True #1 goalie
Teamwork/confidence (in each other especially)
Getting #1 would make needing #2 a bit less of an issue, but goalie upgrade going forwat is needed.
#3 is a HUGE problem. There's really good individual talent on this team, but it just isn't meshing for some reason. Way too many times the players are trying to do it all on their own, they don't know/can't trust a teammate to be where they need/expect them to be.
Watch any good team, drop passes happen all the time, and are completed the majority. Everything looks smooth, because the passer knows where his partner is, or will be. The Oilers force just about every pass, and it creates nothing because they can't receive it cleanly.
Frustrating as (frank). |

Ok I'll bite.... two way forwards who bring leadership and grit ? - Reveen
First name that comes to mind if Chris Neil --- He still leads the team in hits. And chips in the odd goal. IF the Sens could afford to lose leadership he could be traded -- don't expect him to be (family is here, he's a staple here, LEADER) but a lot of Sens fans are talking about sitting him and playing Condra (the teams best defensive forward).
Condra + Greening could REALLY provide good value to a team like EDM. Condra skates well and again -- defensively is so good. Why trade a guy like that? His offensive side is simply not there. He generates chances but he is nothing close to a finisher. Great PK guy but not going to score much at all. Could compliment offensive players at times. Greening -- his contract is the big problem. Also again a victum to numbers game. Sens have tons of prospects and players that can play 2nd/3rd line. He could be acquired for little. He's fast, hits, but lost his confidence and isn't getting to play alot in Ottawa.
Zack Smith -- this is the guy oilers fans would love. He gets in the face of other players. Defensively could be a shutdown C. Good faceoffs. Good skater. Hits. Doesn't fight a lot -- more of a pest. But could drop the gloves against middle weights for sure. Again, sens have 2 many guys like this (although I never liked him --i don't like pests personally --- I don't get why fans want to trade him)
These 3 --Greening - Smith - Condra -- would be a SOLID 4th line. Fast, two-way without a doubt, and playoff experience + success). Adding a Dman like Methot would really help the oilers and would be close to that range. Again this is all fantasy talk, but since I want both teams to exceed, I've tried to be as honest as possible |

What?
He knows what we need. We know what we need. The whole (frank)ing nhl knows what we need. No one is giving us what we need. Only deals are overpay for something we already have. Not as easy as some make it out to be. - Iggysbff

1) Marc Methot (won't put up ALOT of points, but a good amount)
2) hmm... Legwand is not that good. Could fall into that 3C for sure. But no. Mika Zibanejad will be a GREAT 2/3 but that's going to cost (21 yrs old)
3) Robin Lehner... but again price would probably be high. Anderson is our MVP so doubt he gets traded.
*As a oilers fan I'd dangle Perron more so than Ebs to Ottawa. What's his price folks? |

I'm actually scared to trade the 1st overall. Not because I want the new shiny object, it's just a fear of this team fukking up once again.
I can only imagine what it's like in the dressing room or the offices. |
