Back when I played for the Hawks, I ran Ron Hextall in the crease and Holmgren wasn't very happy with me. Sent Berube out to teach me a lesson.

So he chased me around for a period and he finally caught me in the third period and he challenged me to a fight, kind of grabbed me.

When a super star gets grabbed back then, everybody jumps in so it became a five-on-five melee. The referee grabs Craig's arms and kind of has him in an arm lock but my right arm is totally free. So I had this choice to make. Do I hit him -- you know, defenseless guy -- or do I not?

Well, being a young guy and this guys much bigger than me, I chose to slug him, and I spin him so hard.

For two or three years, every time we played the Flyers, every time I would jump on the ice, Craig would stand up on the bench and start yelling at one of his players to get off the ice because he wanted to get on the ice to chase me around. He would jump on the ice and chase me around and I would skate to the bench, and he would skate right to the bench and say "JR, I'm gonna f'n catch you, I'm gonna beat the tar out of you, I'm gonna get you one of these days." He did it for like two or three years.

So fast forward to when I'm in Philly and they hire Chief to a minor league contract where he's gonna be player/coach. And the Phantoms locker room and the Flyers locker room, they're connected together. Chief obviously feels very comfortable because he's been part of the organization for a long time.

So he comes into the Flyers locker room where I'm getting ready and was just hangin out in the locker room and I go "Hey, Chief, what's goin' on?" and he goes "Hey JR, what's goin on-- BOOM." Just slugs me. Just cracks me. And I kinda went down on one knee and I get up and he goes "I told ya I'd get ya."

And believe it or not, we played golf later that day. With me, Boosh, Tocc and Chief.

Eli doesn't have the numbers or consistency to be a Hall of Famer. Sure he had some awesome drives and was part of a couple Super Bowl winners but that's not what makes a Hall of Famer.
- NickTheKid87

That may all be true. But the two Super Bowl wins are going to get him in the Hall of Fame.

Pretty much. If the Flyers brass had been in Dallas in 63, we wouldn't have found out that Kennedy was dead until sometime around September of 67.

not before telling everyone first that he was fine, then the he had a lower body injury. then they'd say he's dead.

Do you think Chris Osgood should get into the HHOF based on his Cup rings and win totals?

First of all, I'm not sure what a goat quarterback is.

Secondly, it's not the same at all. Quick was 2nd in Vezina voting in 2012 and 5th in 2014. So he wasn't just a guy who got hot at the end and rode it to a championship. Was Eli a top-5 QB in either of the years he won the Super Bowls?

Thats like saying quick is a crappy goalie because his 2 rings were the result of him getting lucky.

I'm not saying manning is a GOAT QB or even a special one but during those 2 super bowl runs he was a special QB. Like when Dirk became a possessed player during the Mavs championship run.

- rangerdanger94

not really, because quick has become a consistent high-level performer after some early playoff struggles. the kings also weren't as deep then as they were during their cup runs.

sometimes being a special player during the playoffs leads to a championship. many times it doesn't. for example, see: primeau, keith.

Missing the playoffs 5 out of 6 years is unacceptable. Even with the Super Bowls. It's going to cost him his job. The GM has to go too imo. Damn you for bringing up Coughlin, it's derailed the thread.

Matt Frattin on waivers.

I think I would take a shot as a player who could replace rinaldo/Akeson/VDV and also slide up lineup if playing well.

But he has some stats that could be considered HOF. He has 3 (or 4) Cup rings and another SCF appearance. He's top-10 all time in wins, playoff wins, and playoff shutouts. If Eli gets in based on 2 supernatural drives, then Osgood should get in as well.

He's a 4th liner, no more no less. He's probably better than VDV (not saying too much) but let's not jump on the TML castaways. It reeks of "all of the other players are better than all of our players" speak.

Huge difference. Dirk wad an established superstar, who took his game to a higher level. His overall level of play was closer to his playoff performance. Manning, is avg, played well during their 2 runs and got extremely lucky in crucial moments.....good for him

His best play was the pass to Buress. Cant take that away from him.......im just praying that an Eagle QB can do half of what Eli had done one day
