Who is more likely to win a Cup? Laviolette or Berube? Has to be Berube since Laviolette was fired and replaced by Barboobey.

Does that mean the Saints are the second best team in the NFC because Brees is the second best QB in the NFC?
- PhillySportsGuy

No. Because 1. They suck on the road. and 2. their defense is a trainwreck

I feel like I know more about the Kennedy Assassination than I do Claude Giroux's injury.

for good reason.

I can see him maybe barely cracking the top 10 at one point or another but yea he's not exactly a prototypical HOF caliber QB. Who gives a (frank) though he won 2 superbowls
- rangerdanger94

Thats good for you as a fan. I just think people overvalue championships when evaluating individual players. The Giants won the first Super Bowl 17-14. They held arguably the greatest offense of all time to 14 points, but it's Eli who gets the credit. In fact, the Patriots never scored less than 17 points the whole season except for that game. The great Eli would have lost had the defense not played amazing. They deserve more credit than Eli.

QBs are like goalies...when things go well, they get too much credit. When things go wrong, they get too much blame. Eli gets so much credit for those superbowls in part because of the 2 game winning drives. Those were effing legendary. The giants wouldve lost despite the defense holding the pats to 14 points had mannings not completed an 83 yard game winning touchdown drive with a couple minutes left in the 4th.

Ok. So 2 drives define his entire career? That makes him a HOFer?

so, 2 games in 10 days... followed by 7 games in 11 days

sounds reasonable

Sheli threw up 2 prayers and both were answered but let's face it he stinks. If you think SB's are a good measure for a QB, then Eli is better than Peyton. Better throw Marino in there too. He can't hold Eli's jock.

Eli doesn't have the numbers or consistency to be a Hall of Famer. Sure he had some awesome drives and was part of a couple Super Bowl winners but that's not what makes a Hall of Famer.

Thats like saying quick is a crappy goalie because his 2 rings were the result of him getting lucky.

I'm not saying manning is a GOAT QB or even a special one but during those 2 super bowl runs he was a special QB. Like when Dirk became a possessed player during the Mavs championship run.

So apparently Giroux's bag was on the team bus due to an incompetent equipment manager. poop runs down hill I guess...

More time sharpening skates, and doing laundry, less time setting up rubber snakes in gatorade coolers.

Nope. In fact, pretty much everyone here thought it was a stupid move.

It was a hell of a shot though..

- jak521

i didn't think it was stupid. my position was that umberger could still chip in a few points, and bring a higher level of versatile play, while not falling down and taking undisciplined penalties. the shorter contract was just a bonus. umberger has brought virtually nothing to the table so far. i know he had a poor season last year, but didn't think it continue to this degree.

I'm sure we'll be trading that equipment manager to Columbus for some corpse soon anyways, what with the "no fun or smiling at work" culture change.

Many of you were arguing with blue jackets fans all offseason about how umberger was gonna resurrect his career and outscore hartnell now that he's not playing with giroux.
- rangerdanger94

i don't recall a single person here that said umberger would outscore hartnell. and why would any of us argue with blue jackets fans. are there any?

First of all, I'm not sure what a goat quarterback is.

Secondly, it's not the same at all. Quick was 2nd in Vezina voting in 2012 and 5th in 2014. So he wasn't just a guy who got hot at the end and rode it to a championship. Was Eli a top-5 QB in either of the years he won the Super Bowls?
