Last year we were 14-13 to end nov and 20-19-2 to end dec. We're .500 right now (7-7-4) everyone relax it's a slow start and if we look at last year's blogs at this time I'm sure we were saying the same things we are now. Trade Hank! Get ride of Nash! Tear it down we need a complete rebuild! Fire AV!
Everyone relax it's still way to early.

I honestly haven't really seen anyone saying that on here, and I don't follow the cesspool known as twitter, so I cant speak for that. If you look at most of the posts on here its the lack of intensity, effort, and commitment that is almost universally agreed on. Even the Rangers players themselves are admitting it. The million dollar question is, how do they turn it around.

Only time will tell. If it makes anyone feel any better the team had a record of 16-18-2 after 36 games. That's twice the amount of games the team currently stands at with their mediocre record. There is time to turn it around but they can't continue with these really poor efforts like last night. It's alarmng if it occurs once but this isn't the first time the Rangers have laid an egg like this.

Didn't see this before I posted nov/dec records. You beat me to it!

That's Vin, he always loses it after the Rangers lose.

Just have to realize that's his thing.

The team just needs to get back to playing to its strengths and thats a north south game with speed. Put everything on net and crash it hard. I think the team got a little cocky and trying to be too fancy. Mcdonaghs presence is also missed. 4th line is a major issue outside moore.

Supposedly AV told the team to "stop trying to be so (frank)ing cute" a couple games ago.
I like that. It shows he is seeing some of the problems.

Yea. I'm really not worried about the team. Maybe thats naive of me but after last year I'm desensitized to the regular season until march.

Can't help but think this game ends differently if MSL burries that breakaway or hank at the very least stops that 1st goal from leaking through.

I said send Kreider to Hartford and rightfully so, he's been a disappointment, Zucc and Staal are going to be cap casualties, Zucc though is making the case that even if the cap goes up he's expendable, our depth is not showing up, forget blaming it all on not having a 4th line, we may not even have a 3rd line

Like it was said before this team needs a road trip, get away from the comfort of home and where it's get up go to the rink, spend the rest of the time together and go back to the rink, they may not be as good as last season yet but there is surely enough talent to look better than this

Nice article. I feel your pain, being a Flyers fan. Consistency, and good leadership are hard to find. I think that the East is trying to figure out how to keep up with the West right now. Thus, the identity crisis that many teams in the Metro Division are experiencing. It used to be a black and blue situation, but now with the change in the rules, player safety, and other issues, the East must find a way to make the transition away from being grinders, to more of a speed, and finesse group. Finding a good balance will take good drafting, and filling in with role players that can actually play hockey. Our organization is finally paying attention to developing players instead of counting on the late trade to make the push deep into the playoffs. With the player's agreement, and the salary cap, the teams will be forced to make the mentioned changes above.
Now, some may disagree, but I can see teams turning over their players every 4-5 years in order to stay competitive, and to keep under the cap.
I also hate the long term, and expensive deals made in the past. I am hoping that this will work itself out of the game as well. Make the players earn their keep, and don't let them sit back, and collect a paycheck. But, that is up to the owners, and the GM's. If they want to pay the price, and don't care about the game in the long term...so be it.
Anyway, I hope that the division can be competitive again. I miss those playoff series against the Rangers, etc.. Seeing the "sunshine" teams again, and again is starting to bore me.

I never lose it as bad as I did last night, this game because of all the underlying factors really got under my skin, I'm not in a much better mood today

I was pissed last night to. That second Callahan goal was just the icing on the cake. I just tend to make more jokes then rant.

Yeah, you were in rare form last night.

But I know where you are coming from. My girlfriend even said, why are you not yelling at the tv like normal. I told her the Rangers stole my ability to feel emotions.

That one sent me through the roof, getting out worked and it wasn't just Girardi and Staal, Moore and Boyle which I hate those two together managed to get pinned, actually make a line change and the puck never came out of the zone

Send Kreider to the minors? I think benching him is viable but wouldn't he have to clear waivers in order to get sent to Hartford? I mean, if we are being technical about this, it doesn't make any sense to do that. He is playing poorly and maybe a good benching would wake him up. But by no means should he go to Hartford.

It's still too early to suggest trading potential UFAs but if this team continues to look this inconsistent and listless, and they are ultimately a fringe playoff team, I do think the Rangers should explore a Staal and/or Zuccarello deal.

I would rather they try to recoup their lost first round pick than try to squeak into a wild card spot and then get potentially blown up by Pittsburgh, Tampa or any other possible top seeded team in the conference.

Forget Callahan, he is an average player playing with a legitimate top three forward in the NHL. Put any average player, with a great player like #91, and that player's stat line will look as good as it ever will.

Those two goals "Cally" scored last night were gimme goals born from piss poor defensive efforts from Girardi first and then Staal second.

I was numb, completely in shock that after all of these years of virtually nothing to cheer about, I still care about this organization.

Callahan is more consistent than Stamkos. Plus the team is 11-0 when he scores. You know what your gonna get out of Callahan game in and out. Sometimes Stamkos is invisible out there
