Have to let it play out and see what happens. But if Giroux isn't fine, and there is some kind of injury. What point is there is saying he is fine, if he isn't? It gets out that he went to be evaluated by a doctor, then they know he isn't going to practice. What do they think is going to happen? It's like the federal goverment. Just deny everything.

The issue isn't that the 1st line is broken. It's that with moving up Schenn, the rest of the line-up just might be broken. And there is no disputing that Vinnie is broken.

At some point G and Jake might slow down a little. I mean, no one expects 100+ point seasons from them. And if that happens, the team could be in a bit of trouble.

- TheGreat28

How could G and Voracek posting 100 point seasons be troublesome?

Here is the problem I have with Vinny. He hasnt been very effective in his time with the Flyers. He has also been oft injured. We have tried a myriad of different players on his line. We have moved his position around countless times. We have had zero appreciable change. Why are we focusing on trying to make one guy fit?

We have shuffled just about every player around, and it hasnt helped him. So we have basically come down to this:

Or best 1-2, and arguably the best 1-2, combo needs to be split so that we can "possibly" get Vinny motivated to start producing? I disagree.

Voracek has done most of his damage at even strength. Hell, he is the #1 point getter at ES. Vinny playing more than 12:00 at even strength is a recipe for disaster IMO.

Actually, the 2nd conclusion I draw from this is that our entire "Pair Jake with Vinnie" discussion is completely moot. If Berube is not even gonna try that at practice when G is out, he certainly isn't gonna split up G and Jake to put Jake with Vinnie.

G and Jake scoring 100+ certainly wouldn't be troublesome. But that is likely not too realistic. My point is that when they inevitably have a lull, or miss a few games, the balance of the lineup hasn't shown an ability to pick up the slack. There have been some decent stretches, but usually followed by down periods.

Second point is that yes, we have tried all kinds of players with Vinnie. But none of them were the kind of player Vinnie needs at this point in his career. So it's not surprising that he hasn't had any success. How much of it is on him, and how much is on the coach/GM I just don't know.

But really, it's a moot point. Like I said, if Chief isn't trying Jake and Vinnie at a practice when G is out, he's not likely to do it later in a game.

Giroux not practicing. Must be a maintenance day, since he was fine last night.
- PLindbergh31

It was just a scare. Someone mentioned a locker room rumor of Vinny being put on his line? I can understand he needs a recovery day from that.

Lecavalier just doesn't seem comfortable with the angle to the net as a LH shot on the left side of the ice, in the spot that Hartnell occupied. Hartnell was able to do that. The problem is that Lecavalier prefers the right side of the ice, which is the same area that Voracek is set up at. It has zero to do with not being good enough, or that the top PP can't elevate his play.
- MJL

Gotcha, Well maybe Vinny would be more effective out there with a protractor instead of a stick.

He's clearly good enough, permitting he stays in his comfy 5 ft. diameter circle in the right side of the slot in the offensive zone.

Most likely not going to happen. But it's not a bad idea. Voracek would be the ideal player to play with Lecavalier.
- MJL

No way. Splitting G and Voracek is like Splitting up Getzlaf and Perry or Benn and Seguin, you just don't

all depends on traffic. where i went to college was a few miles away from allentown, so i made the trip frequently.

ideal conditions, not rush hour or anything, youre looking at around an hour and 15 or so.

Every player has a favorite area of the ice. If we take Simmonds away from the front of the net, and play him on the half wall in place of Giroux, is Simmonds going to be as effective on the PP? Same if we take Voracek and move him away from the right side of the ice, which is his preferred side. Lecavalier can still shoot the puck and score, and can still make plays with the puck. He's just set in his ways at this point, and how he has played his entire career.

If they are split, I'd want Voracek to play with Couturier or Schenn as his center. I don't want him saddled with Lecavalier at 5 on 5
