I think there shouldn't be so much reverence for the set lines at this point. I honestly believe that Jake Voracek can lead his own line. I don't know why people are so scared to try it out for a game or two. No choice now, he'll be playing without G coming up here...so, we'll get a chance to see what that looks like.

I believe he can also. And I would like to see that tried. However, I'm not going to criticize the coach for not wanting to break them up. Top coaches such as Mike Babcock, and Daryl Sutter also like to keep pairs intact.

I feel bad for the decent guys who cheer for the but there's so many bumholes that cheer for that team that I (frank)ing love this.

Sometimes when I watch the Stars play, I wonder how Flyers fans would respond if this was their team. For instance, Jamie Benn just broke an 11-game scoring drought tonight (2 assists in last nine games). If he played here, some people would be calling to strip him of the C -- especially with the way the team has struggled for much of the season thus far.

If the Stars defense were the Flyers defense, fans would be enamored of rookie John Klingberg, mostly positive on Brenden Dillon and either divided (Trevor Daley, Alex Goligoski, Jamie Oleksiak's slow NHL-level development) or soured (Jordie Benn) of the players.

Lindy Ruff's handling of the goaltending this past week-- and the struggles of backup Anders Lindback -- would generated hundreds of message board posts.

I was pissed after the first 3-4 goals but the 3-4 after were just (frank)ing hilarious.

OMG! You can't put him on the top line! He hasn't earned anything! All players must start on the 4th line with Rinaldo and make him great. Once this is accomplished, they are moved to the third line and forced into horrible situations. Once they score 70 points, they can then move to the top 6. Once there, he will never be moved from the top 6 again.

Love these kinds of posts. Puts things into perspective.
Amazingly, not every team in the league expect for the Flyers is putting in "60-minute-efforts" every night.

Yes, Klingberg has been tremendous. Only been up a few games but he has tremendous poise, two-way sense and is good with and without the puck.

Oleksiak, on the other hand, has made modest progress at the NHL level. Still strictly a number six at the top level although he's done quite well in his AHL time. It's an improvement from looking totally overwhelmed in the NHL (as he did in previous looks in the NHL) but he still a lot of learning curve to go before he's anything resembling an NHL impact D.

It'll be interesting to see if MacDonald and Luke Schenn are back tomorrow night, and who sits if they are.

Klingberg was also ripping up the AHL in his short stint there so far this year as well. 12 points in 10 AHL games for a rookie d-man. I feel like he'd have way more hype in a bigger hockey market right now.

Go back a year and read the posts when Giroux had no goals over 15 games, and the team started 1-7-1.

Flyers fans are an extension of Philly fans, for good and bad. Passionate, emotional, a lot of the time speaking off the cuff or with emotion. That brings good and bad. Some need to pick arguments constantly, some just need to vent frustration. It is what it is.

See, I'm just so incredibly anti-Torts. My god.

I'm sorry about your guys' situation up there, but man. I'm sure you have no problem admitting between the Lu trade, the Fonzi experiment, and the overall handling of the goalies in the last 3ish seasons, it's been a cluster(frank)....from an outside perspective, with no horse in the race, there's no other way to put it than to compare it to rubber necking a train wreck

All I read was confirmed proof that Jamie Benn is overrated!

Kidding.

This group is definitely hard to please.

It was fun though, nothing worse than a dull mediocre team. The games were boring as (frank) unless it was a meltdown type but in between games it was awesome.

In all honesty, I'm not a Benn fan at all but we could use a guy like him next to Giroux.

I like Benn a lot, having seen every game of his NHL career and knowing a bit about him ahead of the 2007 Draft. Love his combination of grit and skill. However, he tends to be streaky offensively (not as streaky as this season so far, but still streaky).

A lot of top offensive guys are streaky. Look at Phil Kessel. He ends up with great numbers, but he can run real hot and cold.
