I know we're joking about the Flyers not releasing information, but is anyone a little worried about Giroux based on the call up of Laughton? Wouldn't they just use Jones for two games if it was only 2 games?

Or did they plan on calling up Laughton, but didn't want him wasting away in the press box?

I think the intelligent fans understand the situation. It's the people who go to the extremes. It's like people either need to think he sucks or he's a HOFer.

Jones is not an NHL player. This is a perfect time to see if Laughts is ready for the big time.

man that 04 season was just unreal in retrospect.

of all the wild moments, i still think nothing tops when TO was all up in Donovan's face, yapping on the sidelines. Then, in order to satirize/downplay it, they reenacted it the next week with switched roles.

the NFL is (frank)ing weird

It just seems a little strange. I guess they want to see if Laughton plays well. If Giroux is coming back in 2 games, who do they sit then? I have a feeling Akeson's days might be numbered.

I agree -- nothing wrong with taking a look. Put Vinny on L1, see if Voracek can carry him like he has been Fraude

Can you imagine going to work EVERYDAY and having to interact with TO and McNabb?

McNabb was fine, IMO. People in SF warned what TO was like well before things went bad

The NHL never witnessed anything before or has had anything close to the combination of Lindros and LeClair. They would destroy the league the way the game is played today.

I'll be worried if it's something that can cause a long term issue. Otherwise, it is what it is.

Laughton's played very well in the AHL, and I think he's ready to play in the NHL. Akeson, while I do feel he hasn't gotten an extended opportunity with players that allow him to make the most of his abilities, hasn't played all that well.

If they do waive him, I'd rather see them try to flip him for a pick or something.

I think Laughton is ready too. I think he's been ready. Can't wait to see the dynamic Rinaldo-Laughton-VDV line in action.

I'd rather see him center Schenn & Voracek, and drop Umberger to the 4th line, move Bellemare to LW and have Akeson slide up to play on the line with Pepe and Vinny

OMG! You can't put him on the top line! He hasn't earned anything! All players must start on the 4th line with Rinaldo and make him great. Once this is accomplished, they are moved to the third line and forced into horrible situations. Once they score 70 points, they can then move to the top 6. Once there, he will never be moved from the top 6 again.

I'd also be good if they tried something like

10-14-93
24-21-17
78-40-42
Whatever else is leftover

I would move Bellemare to 1C. He's already played well with BSchenn this year and is our second best FO guy

Schenn-PEB-Voracek
Read-Coots-Simmond's
Umberger-Laughton-Lecavalier
Rinaldo-VdV-Akeson

Thats what I would do. Breaking up Read and Couts could cause a massive explosion somewhere in the world though.
