Rinaldo has been the least of our worries. One of the few players you don't have to worry about effort each night. If more guys with better skill did that this team would be competing better
- J35Bacher

He's already -6 in very limited minutes against weak competition. That's a worry.

I agree they didn't expect Umberger to be better than Hartnell, but I do think they felt getting Umberger was better than getting nothing at all (which, if we had to dump the contract, I would've preferred at this point). Speaking just to Hartnell's trade value, I think they could've done better, but instead it looks as though they jumped on their first chance to "get rid of the problem".

Hartnell undoubtedly has his warts, but the reasoning (which I think you're probably right about) is mean and weak.

- BulliesPhan87

Honestly, I don't have enough information to know that. They were taking on a potential problem in return. I think that Hextall is a smart enough hockey guy, that if there was a better deal out there, he would've taken it. And I think it's possible that maybe the better deal was to simply keep Hartnell. I honestly think the culture change was, and is a big deal to Hextall and Berube.

But Hextall said last night he was "fine" remember....

This organization and their injury updates are nothing but awful.

The difference is that Rinaldo is making less then 1M and is not a player that is looked to for leadership.
- MJL

oh i know. it really isnt a good legitimate comparison at all.

just the way you described it was dead on for rinaldo if we viewed it in a vacuum.

agree with the vast majority of this.

if everyone played as hard as he did, the flyers would for sure be better.

and i would never say rinaldo is the one thing holding the team back from being great. i dont think he has much talent to speak of whatsoever, but it would be foolish to look at one player on the fourth line and say that he is the issue. however, i just dont think he deserves to have his name written into an NHL lineup with pen.

you dont look at a car with a flat tire and go damn, if only the cd player wasnt broken, it would surely run great. but at the same time, you dont need to keep the cd player in such a state of repair forever, either.

What are you talking about? Giroux isn't injured.

Philadelphia Flyers @NHLFlyers
Claude Giroux was evaluated by team doctors tonight and he is fine, according to #Flyers GM Ron Hextall.

I question the hockey IQ that Rinaldo has. I don't expect him to become that 4th line veteran that is always in the right spot, and always makes the right play. But I don't agree that he doesn't have any talent. He's made himself into an NHL player, so he's doing something right.

I have a sense of deja vue here. Haven't we had this conversation before?

i mean talent and nhl talent are 2 different things. i love making fun of the guy, but im sure if i was playing against him at a local rink and i didnt know who he was he would leave me absolutely in the dust.

and as far as your last part, i mean that could apply to literally 99 percent of all discussion on here

Eskin says Giroux hit in the foot with shot at practice. Hope he went to the same X-ray center Coburn went to.

So Giroux has an ankle injury, per Panotch. Curious that Schenn was moved to center, when in the preseason Berube refused to move him to center. Does that mean G is out for more than a couple games?
- TheGreat28
