Het Stash, respectfully...No need to be condescending, especially from a Ref who cautions others on same.

3 goals in 4 games is hardly 1.5 per, but what do facts have to do with things.

The point is, Follow this...
the knock on his NHL game as a young player is that he is on the perimeter too much.
He was sent down to develop.
2nd pick overall should be able to dominate in his 4th year of Juniors
Dominate by scoring in the dirty areas...it will only benefit him when he comes back up.

- IonSabres

I agree, Stash needs to tone it down when it comes to being a ref

You werent sad when the greastest player in your franchise's history left? Sabres have won ZERO cups, with ANYONE. So that logic doesnt quite justify any opinion you think you have.. Look at the stats and awards. Save the drama for your mama.

If he does not get at least 2 a game , he is a bust ! Should have taken Bennett .

EXACTLY!!!

And it is an objective, otherwise known as a stretch-goal...something to strive for...difficult to achieve....but set to make one over achieve.
Usually associated with big boy jobs (god I do love that saying, lol)
Not a make/bust benchmark

But go on, redicule, have fun!

Here's the problem. The team he is on in Juniors are also trying to win games. They have a coach who is trying to move up in his career, and they are trying to win a Memorial Cup, which is a pretty big deal up there. So, it's natural to think that the coach is going to have Reinhart do what he does best, and that's also what Reinhart is going to do. It's not fair to the 19 other players that their best teammate's game suffers because he's working on playing a type of game that he's not suited for in the first place. It's just not going to happen. Simply put, if you wanted a player to work on things that he can realistically only improve on at the pro level, you need to keep him at the pro level.

Disagree wholeheartedly.
Your saying he should wait until the NHL to develop his game?
Why can't he work on going to the net in Juniors...it is going to get easier for 185 lb. underdevelop boy, but he can do it against fully grown men...who are getting paid millions to pound you?
None of what you pontificated makes any sense at all.
That's like saying one should learn to shoot a gun onlynwhen you are in live combat in a war zone.
As far as helping the team and coach for this year..2 things.
1-scoring goalsvalwaysvhelps your team win
2-their priorities are 2nd on your list of priorities...unless they are going to pay you millions for the next 15 years.
Done.

The only question i have with this idea is, who is he going to work on it with here? Moulson and Ennis? I think part of the reasoning with sending him down is Murray knowing just how much we're going to suck this year.

If I'm a coach, I'm telling my player to do what he does best because my first priority is to win games. In Reinhart's case, that's being a playmaker and setting guys up, not playing a power forward's game. Reinhart is never going to be that type of player, not at the Junior level, not at the NHL level, not at any level. It's not how he's going to make his money. He sets people up, so that others can finish. He makes his teammates better around him that way, not by changing his game, "taking it to the paint", trying to become a type of player he never will become anyway. His team hasn't lost a game since he's been sent there. I doubt anything changes, nor should it. The best teams let their best players do what they do best.

He needs to get bigger and stronger . He was subject to big hits up here that could harm his long term development . But your right Tim Murray has no idea what is best . He is just being selfish letting the kid get a little bigger and stronger. He should have been kept up here so fans could say he was here . Regardless whether he was physically ready or not ! . Fire Murray !

Look, the big knock on him was he wasn't used to the speed of the pro game, and that he needed to learn that. It's not like he needed to work on a specific skill. All of his skills are NHL ready. It's all about putting it together, something that most likely happen at the Junior level.

The problem is he's not "letting the kid get bigger and stronger". You don't get bigger and stronger in a league you are too big and strong for in the first place.

So he is forbidden from growing as part of being sent down ? 18 and 19 year olds still continue to grow on their own . So you are saying as soon as a player is drafted they are no longer to grow on their own ? I got it.

Well, he is there to further develop HIS game for the long-term benefit of his career. By doing do and finding another gear to his game, he automatically makes his current team better.
This Isn't an either/or scenario as you position it.

I wouldn't expect him to live in the paint as you seem to think I'm suggesting, when he gets it, then take it to the net and SHOOT himself. That is what Nolan and Murrayvwanted more from him (and others).

There is something to be said about not making Spiller become a pass blocker at all when he does other things much, much better, but that's a completely different story.

Let's say we get Eichel or McDavid. They're two players that take it to the net, while Reinhart isn't. If that's our one-two punch then it might be nice to have two different styles of play for our top two centers. It might make it harder for teams to defend. I mean look at Stamkos and Filppula/Johnson, they seem to have a pretty good one-two punch with the same type of playing styles that Buffalo may end up having one day. You draft for skill level and playing style, not how you want them to play because that seems like quite a gamble. I mean what if a player is incapable of playing the style you want them to? Then it's just a wasted pick. At least that's how I see it...

I just think that with the 2 options Murray had, he took the safe one. I dont really have a problem with that. Hopefully, Rinehart will catch the end of Rochesters season /playoffs if they get there.

Grigorenko is a pretty big guy and he isn't driving to the net. He's a playmaker just like Reinhart. I think Grigorenko is proving we shouldn't make quick judgements on 18 year olds just because they're first round picks.

Maybe Reinhart makes the jump to the big league next year. Maybe he needs a year in Rochester like Grigorenko. Still think both will be solid pros for us in the future.

There is something better to be said about becoming multidimensional and staying on the field for 3 plays rather than 2.
One doesn't come at the expense of the other.
Your spending too much time balancing spreadsheets.
Athletes can learn new skills and become very proficient at them!
It's called being a complete player.?.rather than situational.

Enhance his growth ? Really . Let the kid grow bigger and stronger without the fear of some 4th liner lining him up and injuring him to get in the Hockey News . Keeping him here was like an old bra , Pointless. Where are we going this year ? Let him play on junior all star teams , compete for a Memorial Cup and be a teenager with kids his age. He will have plenty of time to play in the NHL.
