It never ceases to amaze me how you media types continually complain about the shoot out. Could it be that your Rangers are just no good in the shoot out? Its clearly because they cant score, Henrik is all world it certainly is not because of bad goal tending. When teams lose, they complain about the shoot out. The fans--not just in Pittsburgh but elsewhere as well--stand and remain standing for the duration of the shoot out. Give the fans what they want.
The NHL refuses to officiate games in such a way to allow the stars to showcase their skills. They would rather allow thugs to create "parody" instead of letting the stars shine. The shoot out is one of the few places stars can display their amazing skills. Why take that away? If you don't want to go to a shoot out, dont play a boring, conservative style in the third period of a tie game.
As for the penalties, the Penalty on Scuderi was dead wrong. He caught the Rangers player and dove, leading with his stick and contacting the puck and stick. The Rangers player's momentum took him over top of Scuderi--NOT A PENALTY. I was in that end zone section, had a great view.
Did you ever think that if the referees did their job and enforced the hooking, holding and obstruction Crosby is faced with on a nightly basis, he wouldn't need to whine and cry? I HATE watching Crosby complain to the officials, but I understand completely why he does. We see on a nightly basis players who hook and hold him on a nightly basis because they can't keep up. Officials are afraid to call the penalty because the Pens power play has been so good this year.
Malkin's hit was clean, but when the scrum followed, the officials got it wrong by awarding a penalty to Malkin to even it out. A night earlier, the roles were reversed, and Phaneuf crushed Hornqvuist. Malkin came to Hornqvuist's defense, and was given an EXTRA 2 minute minor. Now Saturday, its Malkin hitting Girardi, and Staal understandably comes to the aid of his mates. But when he attacks Malkin, he is NOT given an extra 2:00. Where is the consistency? - Amanion
Clearly you're not up to date with NHL rules |

So just another game tonight, huh? |

No mention of the Malkin spear or Crosby bowling over Hank, must have not been in that good a spot to see those with your gold colored glasses on, this game will go down in Penguin lore as "The shootout that redeemed a city" - HankdaTank
Must of missed the hook/trip on sid and the extra players mugging geno. Definitely goes both ways. Really can't blame the refs for any win/loss |

Boyle will score, Stralman will out corsi Staal, and Callahan will block a shot with an empty net that will go the 200 feet for the insurance goal. Book it |

If the Rangers do happen to lose tonight, please let Stralman, Boyle & Cally do nothing.
Because I don't want to read the ridiculous posts of 1 head to head match up, and how we got killed in the trade, we gave up all our 1sts, and the Rangers suck, etc..
Or if they do well in the game, I hope MSL scores a hatty, this way its a moot point. |

Back from a long hiatus. Early in the school year and coaching a soccer team and kids and a wife at home. This thread was put on the backburner. Up and down season early on, but it didn't take long for the bad blood to resurface between our fan group and other ones.
I heard a rumor that some former Rangers are coming to town? E5??

The more the fan bases hate each others team the better the games. I really enjoyed reading the fan fights the last 2 days. I can't wait until we play again. BTW I think hockey is the worst officiated game in all of sports. |

Agree with you 1st & 3rd points, 2nd point I could do without.
I might hate the Flyers, Devils, Pitt.. etc.. but I dont like the stupid pissing contests back and forth between posters. Rational hockey talk and , joking around sure, just not some of the childish poop. |

I figure the Rangers frustrating Crosby to the point where he is banging his stick off the glass would be worn as a badge of pride by the Rangers fans. Not many teams get under his skin like that. |

Now you just have to convince him that shooting on the PP late in a game has a better chance of a goal than passing it around for 2 minutes. |

Yeah, that's another way to look at it. Only other time I remember him losing it like that was against the Flyers.
Not going to speak for Jan, but I think his only point was everyone expects leeway given to the superstars of the league. Its the way its always been. But the fact Crosby was warned in the 1st period and then proceeded to show the refs up in the 2nd is not something the league wants to start doing no matter who the superstar is. There has to be some sort of line.
I personally don't care, because for me the Rangers lost that game in OT on the PP.

Nope. There's still some Pens fans that think hockey was invented in 2005. |

So it is being reported by the beat writers the Rangers will have "something" with Kaberle by today. I hope by something they mean one of those Derek Jeter don't let the front door hit you on the way out gift baskets. |
