Neuvirth is just as good as him IMO.

Lets just hope he doesn't end up making 6 mil.

- dadeadhead

I said all summer I thought Neuvirth could be a huge wildcard for us. While there have been games that he hasn't looked too hot, it's hard to really fault him for it.

Goalies tend to bloom a bit later more often than not, so he really could be the guy for years going forward. We just have to wait and see.

a horrible contract is the one Detroit just gave Martinez or Anaheim gave Pujols and Hamilton.

MLB is filled with horrible contracts! Why would you sign a guy to a 13 year deal? He's not going to be a 25 mil a year type of player at 38.

He put up good numbers in Washington.

They had a very lacking defense.

He's a better goalie than most want to give him credit for. Reminds me of Miller in net. Has many of the same mechanics.

He has not only become the Number 1, he is starting to give off the attitude of a true Number 1. Saturday night against the Laffs he was sick (Anyone else remember this: "He's a witch who stands on his head")

Also, on three different occasions Saturday night, I noticed Weber playing to defend the pass, and letting his mark shoot at Neuvirth instead of trying to block it. Could it finally be that Mike has that figured out and will turn his +/- around??

Finally, Z has earned the next C, but if i were TM I wouldn't give it to him until they think the team is ready to start moving forward. Gionta should remain the "caretaker" until TM believes they are ready to start climbing, and then they give AZ the "C" and let him lead in a successful era.

Nope but I'd guess he is for the next ten.

It's Neuvirth's job and he knows it.

It's Girgensons team and he knows it.

Garth mentioned that Neuvirth might get moved at the GM meetings or the deadline, so I guess he's staying.

It's been Girgensons team since Nolan took over last year. Lucky for us, he doesn't care if there's a "C" on his sweater. He does what needs to be done on the ice and in the locker room. He doesn't need the letter to push him to do that.

But Backes is handsome. Girgensons and Brown both look like they are from other planets.

Edit: People from the east side are comfortable enough with their sexuality to post this

Leadership won't be an issue for the Sabres like it was a few years ago, When Vanek and Pominville were captains.

Fair enough, but i could see him being that style of player/production especially if they keep him at centre.

To be fair, Backes and Brown play a similar style as well. Backes also has gone from center to wing at points in his career.

Brown has those 2 rings too....

All of his Penalty shots/breakaways have been some great looking goals. His backhand is incredible.

Some highlights:

"Ted Nolan wants his Buffalo Sabres to be more like Latvia. That’s what it has come to with the worst team in the National Hockey League."

"Whether the Sabres can gather enough of an effort to beat the Maple Leafs on Saturday night at the First Niagara Center is doubtful."

"The Sabres are 13-1-1 in their past 15 games against the Leafs on home ice, but they’re so terrible this year that record should amount to little."

What's funny is Latvia in my opinion looked great as a team. They played their assess off and put up a fight against Canada. I'm all for the sabres being like team Latvia.

Has he shown enough offensively yet this year to have proven he's not Dan Paille yet??
