Last night was a so overdue. For some reason those from Ontario love doing takeovers of the FNIC. They always seem to get a treated to the true "Buffalo" experience each time.

yes its true. this has been all over the local news for the last week. If i worked there i sure as hell wouldnt be coming in on thanksgiving. They could threaten to fire me and i wouldnt flinch. It puts an enormous weight on the store owners

Oh, it's true. My roommate works in the mall. There are exceptions to it. Her employer doesn't have a store, just a kiosk, so they don't have to open at 6. But, they will be open at midnight. They were last year too.

Generally, I don't blame stores for opening on Thanksgiving. We the consumer are enablers here (I don't shop on Black Friday let alone Thanksgiving but I'm still in this group). It's we ourselves that create this insane consumer culture that allow these stores to make money. We can just as easily stop it. If we don't go, they don't make money by opening on Thanksgiving. However, that is a whole new level of ridiculous.

i really dont think the issue here is the consumers, its the employees who cant spend time with their family on one of the biggest holidays of the year because theyre needed to work. Yes, it is a ridiculous debacle of a shopping day but they didnt have to open a day early because of the consumer.

Yes, but we the consumer can still just as easily put a stop to it, and we don't. We can sit here and say "well I don't ever shop on Thanksgiving so it's not my fault", but the reality is we can create a culture where it's completely unacceptable. We just choose not to.

I certainly dont go shopping on either day so its not my fault in all seriousness this article is a step in the right direction if youre looking at it that way. The media (including social media) controls the machine...

if everyone had the same attitude as you and i and refrained from shopping on those days we wouldnt be having this conversation

Don't do Black Friday myself , Never have . I refuse to add to the insanity . Some consumers can't help themselves. If this is going to stop it has to be a consumer movement . Sad to say , I don't think it will ever happen.

Neither do I, but we all know someone (most likely more than one) that does. That's where we stop it. Now, that doesn't mean get in their face and call them a terrible person, but saying something along the lines of "I don't go shopping on Thanksgiving Night. I just feel that if I did so, I'd be responsible for people having to work instead of being with their families on the holiday". You'd be surprised how effective that is. Now, granted, there are people that simply aren't with family on the holiday, for one reason or another, and probably would rather just work to pass the time, but I have to imagine they are the minority.

Agreed. Most of society today regards it as "unfortunate" rather than "unacceptable", which is why you see people out in droves. If more people regarded it as unacceptable, we'd see this stop real quick.

Matched an offer sheet from the Oilers days after Briere and Drury walked out the door for nothing ?

Ultimately, it was still a bad move. It would have taken a lot of testicular fortitude to take the picks, but it still would have been the right move. However, hindsight is 20/20 in this case.

Sabres really had no choice . Edmonton had extended him an offer sheet . They had just lost Drury and Briere to free agency . If they had not matched . There would have been public hangings of all Sabre's officials . I always thought we should have taken the 4 first round picks we would have gotten in compensation . But I was a minority.

Lame comment.
That was 7 years ago when he showed promises of what he would become AND WAS ENTERING HIS PRIME. Your team did it as he is declining, and declining fast.

Holy crap, I squeaked out a 456.5 to 449.5 win in HBSL.

A 3 save Win for Kuemper put me over the top.

I'm hoping fora big week out of Quick for me this week. Only 3 games, but hopefully pretty easy. The 4 game teams seem to play some decent competition, plus 4 game goalies I notice typically only play 3 games anyways.

Some highlights:

"Ted Nolan wants his Buffalo Sabres to be more like Latvia. That’s what it has come to with the worst team in the National Hockey League."

"Whether the Sabres can gather enough of an effort to beat the Maple Leafs on Saturday night at the First Niagara Center is doubtful."

"The Sabres are 13-1-1 in their past 15 games against the Leafs on home ice, but they’re so terrible this year that record should amount to little."
