Not that I blame Nolan for taking pride in the team he coached, but if a moral victory consisting of a goaltender standing on his head against Canada is his idea of "success", then we have problems. - buffalofan19
We already have those. |

Yeah, I guess. Still the fact that he explicitly points to a team of "lovable losers" as the one he wants his team to emulate, disturbs me. It reminds me of the time Chris Drury allegedly requested to be traded because Lindy Ruff stated the goal was to make the playoffs, and not to win the Cup. |

I remember how Drury thought it was crazy there weren't any pictures of the Stanley Cup in the locker room too. |

What should he do though? Try and make Ennis into Sidney Crosby or Hodgson into Malkin and tell the media he's trying to emulate the '09 Pens? |

You're welcome.
They definitely turned out pretty awesome. It took a lot of will power for me not to eat those. |

One more year of suffering and things will start to get better guys! The Sabres are building a great group of core players, Who can't be excited over the thought of Reinhart, McEichel and Girgensons being our core players for the next decade, even more? With Reinhart having a year to develop, That was a good decision by Murray to send him back to juniors. Add all thee other pieces we still have after that, the 2 other first round picks, Our two young & Promising defensemen Zadorov and Risto. The future is looking bright, I'm excited! Anybody else? |

The future is bright and i like the positivity. Having said that, let's not expect that its going to be all hunkey dory next year and we make the playoffs. There's still a long road ahead of us for the best prospect pool in the nhl to develop into a Stanley cup contending team. Eichel or McDavid isn't going to change everything, it's just the beginning |

the Sabres are in a good spot moving forward but it's foolish to think that a bunch of high draft picks is all you need. we all know the Oilers example of what happens when you can't supplement high picks with smart drafting rounds 2-7 and shrewd trades/signings. but even teams like LA and Chicago acquired major parts of their rosters outside of just high picks. |

Edmontons problem is they rely too much on their talented youth. They need to supplement that talent with good vets. I don't think murrary makes that same mistake. He will make the trades/signings to expedite our rebuild. |

WGR mentioned this morning that Damien Cox is saying that even with McDavid, the Sabres won't be relevant for 6 more years. I personally don't think it'll be that long. |

I think you will see 1 or maybe both of the Isles, Blues 2015 1sts go towards actual NHL players. |

That's the second most important part of the rebuild, You get your core players in place through the draft and then you go out and get players in free agency or through trade to help your team succeed and let these young guys develop. You can't have a bunch of 18 year olds with no veteran leadership like Edmonton |

Also, what people forget when they use the Edmonton example is the fact that even before we drafted Reinhart, we had one of the better prospect pools, along with good young NHL'ers already on the roster |

We have a lot of good prospects in our system, We can wait until some of these guys develop and not rush them like Edmonton. Their rebuild went downhill because they were impatient. |
