If you move anyone, max out the return. I'd rather add a Perron type myself, along with a 2nd rounder

I'd grimace a little, but would probably pull the trigger on that

Damn -- Birds taking a beating, putting the perfect capper on this poopty sports weekend

At least I took the wife to dinner last night so I didn't have to watch any of that up in MTL

That's why I'm still furious about Columbus on Friday -- yeah, it's done and over with, but I feel they just pissed away an opportunity for points and there's just no excuse for it

Ha! Yeah...they're just games. Hard to win championships, and you're not gonna win every time you play

Gotta have patience with the process, trust in it. Would feel a lot better if Ghost and Morin hadn't gotten hurt so they could be developing, but what are you gonna do?

I agree; just if they do move Coburn during the season, personally, I want something for the roster now and for the future, not just cap relief.

I might overvalue Coburn a bit, and I acknowledge that, at times. But I'll be pissed if they just move him as a piece to gain cap relief. Just buy Umberger out this summer if you're gonna do that -- you get $3 million in savings for the next two years, and yeah, there's dead money in Years 3 and 4, but with the way he's playing now, it's dead money walking right now

- AllInForFlyers

There's no way Coburn will be moved for just cap relief. The Flyers don't need cap relief and without Coburn the first pairing is Grossmann-Streit or Grossmann-MacDonald.

I always thought Umberger would be bought out in summer 2016, but if they move it up to 2015 that would be fine. Replace his $4.6m cap hit with less about $2.5m total for Laughton and the Umberger buyout.

I'm alright with trading Richards for Lecavalier only because it makes us a better 5 on 5 team but I feel like we're gonna have to walk away from Laughton to an extent in doing so. Richards is signed to I believe five more seasons and a bigger hit than Lecavalier.

As for this weekend as a whole, pathetic! I don't just blame the players who were undoubtedly terrible but I blame the coaching. Why wouldn't Berube have a rusty Emery face an awful Jackets team and have Mason face a red hot Habs team? To me these are decisions you cannot get wrong. During his time out, he's gotta rip into these guys. Their play warrants getting screamed at!

As for the players, Streit stood out to me as a guy too loose. It seemed liked players were looking to get the puck to Streit but he had a rough time handling passes. He screwed up a slap shot opportunity when looking for a one timer in the offensive zone and miss handled at least two chances to accept a pass in the offensive zone.

Simmonds I noticed was slow and doing an awful job of covering his point man, which led to a goal at least once.

What I think Berube's thought process was to put Mason in for the game that he thought was most winnable, which was at home against Columbus. Versus the back to back in Montreal.

I have the image of John Goodman in the Eagles locker room screaming:

Is this your defense Kelly?!?
Is this your defense?!?

This is what happens Kelly when you frank a stranger in the ass!
THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS KELLY WHEN YOU FRANK A STRANGER IN THE ASS!!!

That's where I am -- it's not that I'm oblivious that there's a cost to buying Umberger out. It's more that if this is the player he is, it's almost impossible to not gain the same production for cheaper and still get some relief

I couldn't disagree with this more..
if Mason is your number 1 their isn't anyone anywhere that didn't see that Columbus game as a trap game..

1. 5 day break
2. The other team is statistically due for a win
3. Canadians in Canada on the next night.

Everything about that screams play your starting goalie to me.

It would be nice if Couturier, Read (great he had 1 goal yesterday) Simmonds, VL, PEB, Umberger or in other words anyone not named Giroux, Voracek, B Schenn or MDZ showed up right now. At least the village scapegoat threw some big hits and tried to wake the team up with a fight.

turned it off right before the half with the packers 35th touchdown.

i have never seen a team play so badly, and be abused so absurdly by another in the nfl like i have today. an absolute gddamn (frank)ing disgrace.

I think you've gotta give your team it's best chance to win. Columbus is the weaker team and I believe Emery has one more victory over Mason this season, so we know Emery is capable. With this said, Emery let his rust show.

Sure, there might be some rest.

There is no question that if a team goes a long time without a victory, it's gotta come sooner or later but it doesn't mean it had to be last Friday. We made things easy on the Jackets and by the end of the game, they looked like World Beaters.

As for facing the Canadians in Canada, you could be talking about any one of the seven Canadian teams. Trust me, they're all beatable at home, it's just that the Canadiens in Montreal are the hottest right now.

You must have missed the Packers against the Bears last week.
