As for Ted Nolan & Co, Murray was hardly effusive in praise of the job being done. He said he gave Nolan “carte blanche” to hire assistants last summer after initially offering some suggestions. Then Murray got to the heart of the matter.

“Have they got the most out of these players? I don’t think they have. Do they think they have? I don’t believe that either. I don’t go to Teddy every day and say, ‘You’re OK.’ I don’t steer clear, but I’m not micromanaging him or his staff. He got the staff he wanted, and I’m going to let them do their jobs. At the end of the day, we’ll see what kind of development there is.”

Easy translation: Just because it’s believed McDavid or Jack Eichel are really the goal of the season, Nolan isn’t getting a free pass. Especially since Pat LaFontaine isn’t around any more.

And since Murray insists he’s not going anywhere, no matter the clear eventuality of his uncle’s situation, Nolan best get a few more games like Saturday night out of this group.

See ya Ted. There is no way TM is going to let him coach McEichel and Reinhart for that matter if the team continues to play like they have so far this year.

That's a relief.

All the best to Bryan, even if it looks dire (you never know), but I have to be selfish here when I say I don't want Tim Murray going ANYWHERE.

Do any of you think Murray should start trading:
Stafford
Stewart
Myers
Hodgson
Couple experienced defensemen that other teams are looking for (Benoit & Meszaros)

With Risto & Zad's improving each game! McCabe & Pysyk getting much needed time in the AHL, it's time to deal Myers for a young offensive scorer.

I don't want bandaids this year. Sounds like he's going to ditch a contract in Rochester. And he should. Pysyk will be up here before the season is over. Changes will be made in the offseason.

Not Myers in spite of your constant suggestions . Hodgson played well last night for once. And Murray will not make trades for the sake of making trades . He will make trades when he feels he can get max value. That is not now .

Not yet, values too low...and we still need to Tank On more.
TM will trade when some one gets hot driving their value higher...and add Foligno to that list.
So let's hope that one of the forwards above gets hot. Staff is starting to contribute on the scoreboard....let's hope he can pick it up some.

Myers? I would love the get Nikuskin ... But I heard that rumor was debunked as not true ( go make it happen Tim!!). Would love to have a big strong forward who loves to go to the dirty areas consistently

Schultzie you could be right.

On the other hand, I listened to Paul Hamilton yesterday and he made the point that many players on this roster just aren't too smart ... I.e. he has watched practices where the coaches physically move a player to a certain spot on the ice for a specific scenario...then, in games those players ddon't do it.
So how much of this is players who just plain suck...rather than the incompetence of the coach? Certain players continue to play relatively well...the dregs are just that.

- IonSabres

"I have not been able to effectively teach my system to my players." Is one of two statements a head coach can use to put himself on the hot seat immediately.

The other one is "I don't really have any system."

("I'm sleeping with the owners wife." Also works but I don't have any reason to think that's going on.)

Fortunately murray wants forwards who will consistently go to the dirty areas too, and not just the mitchells and mccormicks of the world. Foligno will draw lots of interest, even if its just as a sweetener.

Seems to me that they think Foligno eventually will turn into the player they want him to be. That's what I pick up on listening to Nolan.

With Pysyk and McCabe struggling in Rochester and Gorges out for a while I doubt we see any big move like that. Ristolainen is already a top 4 NHL defensemen but Zadarov isn't close to ready.

I personally think Hodgson is first to go. If they can find a taker

Nolan isn't here to develop players so it would seem to me that he's probably done after this year. It also sounds like TM had some ideas on assistant coaches but let Ted pick his staff. I could see Murray have interest in Luke Richardson.

One would think Meszaros or Benoit is heading to Rochester, if that is the direction they go. Zads is here to stay. Based on their play so far this year, Stafford is the only one with any value to trade.

I'm down 15.5 going into today in HBSL with only 1 more player than my opponent...

Not looking too good for me to win my 4th in a row after an 0-2 start.

Girgensons was NHL Tonight's second star of the night last night and his breakaway goal was their #1 play of the night.

Ennis was the #1 star of the night on NHL.com.

Nice to see some Sabres players getting a little love.

Nice to see some step up and earn the love the fans have for this team!

I would love to see the Mouslon, Girgs, Ennis line find chemistry and begin to perform well together...that would go a long, long way to cementing a portion of the top 9 ...maybe could be a good 2nd line.
I didn't believe that Ennis would flourish on the wing...That would be great news if he does. I just don't see him here as a Center when McEichel, Reinhardt, Comphere, Larson etc. get here along with Girgensons...so excelling on wing would be terrific for them.

I think the best thing that can happen is that they can essentially use any of those guys in any of the forward positions. Versatility adds a wild card to your team and helps with depth during the long season.

EDIT: BTW, that line combined for 8 points last night (4g, 4a)
