I am glad Zadarov is developing . He is still a kid and there are going to be lots of ups and downs. I just wish the haters of Myers knew what they were watching . Watch him away from the puck . His positioning , how he utilizes his reach , increased aggression , his skating . puck carrying , ability to join the rush etc. etc. etc.

Zadarov played the least of the 6 defensemen tonight and had a couple rough shifts. What am I missing ?
- sbroads24

I agree.

He did have a couple rough shifts, for sure.

There was one giveaway where I said "yikes, that had Mike Weber written all over it". It was bad.

That being said, he also made some good plays.

Like you said, he's a rookie and ups and downs are going to happen.

As for Ted Nolan & Co, Murray was hardly effusive in praise of the job being done. He said he gave Nolan “carte blanche” to hire assistants last summer after initially offering some suggestions. Then Murray got to the heart of the matter.

“Have they got the most out of these players? I don’t think they have. Do they think they have? I don’t believe that either. I don’t go to Teddy every day and say, ‘You’re OK.’ I don’t steer clear, but I’m not micromanaging him or his staff. He got the staff he wanted, and I’m going to let them do their jobs. At the end of the day, we’ll see what kind of development there is.”

Easy translation: Just because it’s believed McDavid or Jack Eichel are really the goal of the season, Nolan isn’t getting a free pass. Especially since Pat LaFontaine isn’t around any more.

And since Murray insists he’s not going anywhere, no matter the clear eventuality of his uncle’s situation, Nolan best get a few more games like Saturday night out of this group.

See ya Ted. There is no way TM is going to let him coach McEichel and Reinhart for that matter if the team continues to play like they have so far this year.

Nice to get a solid win, especially against the leafs. Columbus won too so we didn't even move up in the standings. Nailed it!

Im happy but sad cause I missed the game. If it werent for dan carpenter the sabres would be scoring more than the bills and thats ridiculous.

Kaiser was +3.

I didn't see a bit of the game. Went to a (lame) dinner party with a fresh batch a cranberry schnapps. Everybody enjoyed the stuff, but I had as many as Die Kaiserin wanted me to have, PLUS THREE.

Gonna try to catch a replay today. Looked like things came together for the team last night, and I'm really looking forward to hearing RJ call hockey.

Schultzie you could be right.

On the other hand, I listened to Paul Hamilton yesterday and he made the point that many players on this roster just aren't too smart ... I.e. he has watched practices where the coaches physically move a player to a certain spot on the ice for a specific scenario...then, in games those players ddon't do it.
So how much of this is players who just plain suck...rather than the incompetence of the coach? Certain players continue to play relatively well...the dregs are just that.
