Umberger has received constant bashing for his poor play ( which he deserves) but I really can't believe Matt Read only has 1 goal. It's time for him to step up, I am looking for a couple goals from him tonight. I know Read has played a solid role on the PK but he really needs to put the puck in the net.
In regards to Umberger.. It's baby steps for him, I will be happy just to see him win a puck battle

Does anybody here think that Hartnell was one of the most beloved athletes in Philly sports history?

I enjoyed (some) things he brought to the table, and other things not so much. Personally, I was more upset with Briere being bought out at the time

Was Hartnell beloved in Philly? He was very well liked, but the guys I would call beloved in recent years would be:
Brian Dawkins
Chase Utley
Roy Halliday
Kimmo Timonen

He's not at that level

i know the last few years that he had pretty good goal scoring, still maintained a tough imagine on the ice to a lot of fans, the whole hartnell down thing, and the fact that he seemed to raise his game/agitation levels against the pens seemed to endear him to a lot of people.

your average fan doesnt fret details like cap hits haha

I'm not sure there will ever be a more beloved athlete in Philly than Dawkins.

The only sports figure who could maybe contend is Harry Kalas

Hartnell was a lot more polarizing than any of them. Except for Kimmo (who my father inexplicably couldn't stand), I don't think I've ever heard anybody speak ill of any of these players.

When it comes to Hartnell, he had a healthy following of both fans and haterz.

Not even close. And it was most beloved in Philly sports history. When you look at most beloved Flyers in Philly spots history, we're talking about Bobby Clarke and Bernie Parent territory. Scott Hartnell in that territory? No way.

Having fans who liked the player, doesn't put him in the most beloved in Philly sports history category.
