CC sits for sure, hell, it would be miracle if he's still in one piece by the time they both return! After that it really gets tricky. MDZ, Streit, Coburn and Grossmann are locks and, if healthy, AMac likely is too. That leaves Schultz or Schenn. Gonna be a tough call, but right now I'd have to lean towards Schenn. Schultz has clearly outplayed him.

Schenn will probably stay because of his age and hes a right handed shot. Thats my guess. They dont want to give up on him yet

I don't think so, look at the ice time and situations that Schultz is getting and playing in. It doesn't look like Berube is going to sit him anytime soon. When everyone is healthy, I'm guessing we'll see:

AMac-Coburn
Grossmann-Streit
MDZ-Schultz

Edit: they may also try swapping AMac and MDZ

Who sits when Amac and Schenn return????

Right now...

Our best D-men are as follows (with how they have performed to date)
Del Zotto
Streit
Schultz
MacDonald
Grossmann
Schenn
Small Sample Sizes
Coburn
Colaiocovo

- GOA88

Coburn isn't sitting unless he gets injured again. Streit plays first PP he's not sitting. They need Del Zotto's mobility. The other 3 spots should be determined by who is playing the best.

I like this edit.

(although, I do believe the minute Schultz is separated from MDZ, and put with a partner who isn't as good w/ the puck, cracks will start to show in his game)

Def 1-MDZ-Schultz Im am way more confident with these two over any other pair. Personally I think that says a hell of a lot for MDZ. We found a gem.

I still have a suspicion -- although the Flyers and Umberger insist he's healthy and have said so ever since the trade was made in late June-- that there is some sort of physical issue. The Columbus Dispatch reported after the playoffs that Umberger was playing through a herniated disc, separated shoulder and broken finger.

With Umberger, it's clearly not a lack of effort. So for a player who has been a five-time 20 goal scorer to go that far downhill between ages 30 and 32, I can't help but wonder if he's being hindered physically by something and just doesn't want make excuses.

I have no way of proving that, of course. Umberger himself says he feels fine physically. The Flyers say he's healthy, too.

- bmeltzer

Did he have surgery to remove the herniated disc?
That often has lingering problems.

Colaiocovo looks good.....
If they sit Schenn.. he is getting shipped out. No doubt.

- GOA88

I think CC has played well enough to stay in the lineup, but I don't think he will supplant any of the top 5 of Coburn, Streit, AMac, DelZotto and Grossman. Schultz has played well enough to deserve being in the lineup over Fat Schenn, but I don't think Chief will do that.

It has been a pretty bad move in all facets. You lose a guy who was a HUGE fan favorite, great in the locker room (which was a "super important" reason to keep Shelley around), was statistically very successful and consistent almost every year, and loved it here. He is playing very well (aside from +-) this year going for 5 goals 9 assists 14 points in 15 games.

Umberger, on the other hand, has been slow, weak along the boards, brutal with his decision making, and not productive regardless of his role.

Oh and for the record:

"You think of what happened and why me ... I'm sure (Chief) had a big part of that or a big opinion in whether to part ways or not," Hartnell said. "But I'm not going to sit here and worry about it and lose sleep over it, that's for sure."

Also, when Berube was told Wednesday that several Flyers players were saying that Hartnell is missed in the dressing room, the coach started his response by saying, "I don't know if anything is missed."

"Yeah, I get it," Hartnell said. "I've been around the league a long time. I understand that totally (but) it just hurt my ego ... I thought I'd play the rest of my career out there and the change in a week was hard to take."

On November 13, Felix Unger was asked to remove himself from his place of residence; that request came from his wife.

Hey maybe they could play it as the goal song next time RJ scores!

I understand that it freed up two years of cap space for younger guys who will require raises and extensions, but right now, it looks like the Flyers/Hexy got fleeced in this deal. Columbus was going to use a compliance buyout on him anyway, so why not trade Hartnell for a pick? Between this trade and the JVR one, the Flyer GM's are looking like trade geniuses

From someone who has had back issues, a bad back can really hinder you in big and small ways. Esp skating.
