The Gagne situation was poorly handled. I am transcribing Jay Greenberg's interviews for the 50th Anniversary History of the Flyers coming out in a few years. I'm about 2 hours into the Gagne stuff. The Flyers handled it terribly. Gagne was led on to believe the team was only waiting to create a little cap space and told agent Bob Sauve he didn't want to play for any other team and he didn't want to waste anyone's time. In the end, the Flyers suddenly had room for Daniel Cleary (who, of course, turned them down and stayed in Detroit after initially saying he was coming to Philly) and told Gagne they were no longer interested.

Lots of interesting stuff from Gagne. He still wouldn't trade his years here for anything, BTW.

yep. he's a clutch 2-way player. why would we want one of those? as much as i love the flyers, some of the things the organization has done infuriate me. this is one of them.

i fully expect the jackets to win tomorrow. perfect storm. team on a horrid losing streak, ex-player back for the first time, flyers off for 5 days. they're often the perfect antidote for a team or player needing to get out of funk. hope i'm wrong.
