well apparently he's worthless at the nhl level so why would any team bother to take him? what's the fear there?

and since, according to you, there's too much valuable ahl ice that would then be wasted on akeson to be sent down if he passed through waivers, then they have no interest in letting him develop any further there, since he's developed all he can.

so he's only worth a 13th or 14th forward at best in case of injury who won't get a chance to use his skillset because he'd then get plugged onto a 4th line with grinders for 5 minutes and be of no real value other than to give the top line a break for 5 minutes....so.....

he's really worth virtually nothing other than what little they might get in a trade now, so just move him.

see how this goes round and round?

give the kid a chance to succeed in a way he's best suited to contribute.

Why do they have to give him a chance? I said he played two good games but he doesn't have this insane skill level that allows him to take games or shifts off. I don't think you understand where I am coming from. He can be useful if he plays a competitive game where he is making things happen or making smart plays. But if he doesn't then he will be out of lineup.

The Flyers want prospects to play so sending Akeson down to take minutes and situations away from those prospects just isn't in the Flyers best interest but they also don't want to risk losing a player they can use for nothing.

Pretty much. Like I said a few weeks ago, if all you need to do is try really hard to skate on Berube's 4th line then sign me up. I promise to try my ass off!!

Berbube.... had zero skill. Rinaldo, and VDV have zero skill... Hmmmm.. Paint by numbers.

haha touche.

it didnt.

but you know what? as much as id like them to nut up and move a D prospect for a winger help, i dont think that deals really out there right now.

so id rather they continually take these shots in the dark than do nothing at all.

the boychuck experiment cost nothing. ive already seen more out of akeson than i have boychuk.

for the cost of a 5th round pick, to try ii out, id be more than willing. put him there. dont yank him after the first 2 games. give him a good 20 game stretch to see what he has. if not, try him on the fourth line in the place of a guy like sill. if that doesnt work, then what did you lose? not much. and then i would finally consider that stone turned

- stayinthefnnet

Not a bad plan. I'm all for low-risk high-reward moves. Boychuk cost nothing, Akeson could get waived too. Although I think Akeson will be another Brian Gibbons but it would be worth a shot. Maybe they could get a guy like Paajarvi for cheap and see if he can tap into the potential everyone thought he had.

You can't tell me that the first time he hit the ice you wouldn't be excited. Sure the contract is long and expensive, but if we could make the salary work (sending Vinny or Umberger or Amac) I think he would make our team better

Brian Gibbons can fly and also plays a solid defensive game and kills penalites. I would trade akeson for gibbons. I think gibbons plays a little harder of a game then akeson

That picture was from "In Breaking Training" when Kelly Leak (a 12 year old kid?) drives a van of kids to play in a baseball game in Houston where he meets up with his father. Lessons are learned about life and love.

The worst part of this movie is Scott Baio's kid brother is prominently featured after not being in the original movie. Terrible. They should have given Tatum O'Neill whatever she wanted to be in it.

to be fair i didnt want gibbons let go either. but i wanted him on a fourth line pk role.

i really just wish theyd make a move for a decent, somewhat established young guy.

i wanted kulemin, but not at that ridiculous rate the isles gave him.
