More or less, they left him in a game for something like 9 straight goals instead of pulling him. When he made a save, he put up his arms as a mock that it was a great victory. He stormed off the ice, told the coach right then and there, on the bench, that he'd never play for the Candiens ever again. Walked off down the runway and never played another game for them.

Reason and logic are integral for the untouchable definition as it is commonly used which is what I was getting at. But, not matter how you define it, Crosby is definitely the MOST untouchable.

I tried talking on the Penguins fan base about moving Malkin a year or two ago. I argued that they could trade the NHL's best insurance policy for something like Weiss, Markstrom, Huberdeau, Trocheck, Gudbrandson, and some good picks. The reasons behind it made it seem valid, more or less.

Most people on there blasted me, saying how it would be a horrible trade and all, and the #1 reason they had was that, "No one of those players is as good as Malkin," and, while true, they didn't grasp that the sum of the pieces, and the holes they would/could fill, could more than offset Malkin.

But when it comes to Crosby, he's (currently) irreplaceable. There is no player in the NHL that the Pittsburgh Penguins could replace Crosby with. The package may be worth it, but the Penguins cannot replace what Sidney Crosby means to the team and fan base.

I actually liked him as an analyst. I saw him do a BC/Union game and he spent about 55 minutes talking about Gostisbehere, 3-4 minutes about Gaudreau, and then analyzed the game when he had a few spare seconds.

So 'untouchable' is today's 12 page discussion.

Could be. But his production has gone down since his rookie year. He's still young, but he has yet to blossom like I thought he would. But, put him in Crosby's wing, and he'd probably be a top-25 goal scorer right now.

I know. I agree with you. You win with depth in the current NHL. People still think you win with 2 good scoring lines, checking line and plugs. Theyre also pretty soft physically and mentally. If they can't play their up and down game in the playoffs they get flustered.

In his defense, he's got nothing around him. I think Huberdeau eventually becomes a 30-40 guy or even better but the state of that team offensively is putrid.
