Ray Ferraro shredding Mike Richards on Toronto radio.

It's after McDavid stuff. Talks about how Kings were gonna buy him out, but he promised to come to camp in top shape, and has been big disappointment for LA, and now they have cap issues.

Jeff O'Neill said he'd be good trade target for Leafs and Ferraro shredded him

It's more that he's not producing up to his contract in LA, and as a potential trade target & top six guy, Ferraro has concerns he won't produce

Those are legit concerns IMO. He's being paid like a top 6 forward, and I don't think he is one any more

I think Richards style of play has taken a toll on him. He's a pretty small guy. I don't think Richards is an overly talented player, I think a lot of what he's accomplished is through sheer will, hard work, and determination. He hasn't played great in LA, but they've won two Cups since he's arrived. I think he's been a cog in their championships. Not as important as Kopitar, Doughty, Brown, or Quick obviously. Not as important as Carter either.

I think players who aren't very good skaters and lack size end up aging much faster.

Will moving him hurt Carter's production? Or is it ok to split the bromance?

Have we already discussed the crushing of the penguins last night? Since jumbotron fail didn't happen I was ok with the outcome.

I don't know if it was discussed, but I do know that since it was the Rangers that won that game, I'm still not happy.

I would have been happier with a score in the negative numbers.

Ray Ferraro even stated that Richards has lost ice time to Jarrett Stoll. That surprised me.

they were abysmal.

for all the success on the PP, they really could use a decent winger for malkin.

Likely a factor. He has been a cog in the Cup teams, but now they're up poop creek a bit, cap wise, with the Voynov mess and he's giving them 4th line play for top 6 money

Didn't Richards see time on the Kings 4th line last year? He's def not the player he was a few years ago.

He's trending in the wrong direction. It can't just be characteized as a slump or the Kings system. Things are bad now but they could get worse.

For sure. Not ideal by any means. Winning two cups in three years I would think would soften the blow for the fans.... I'm sure if we looked at every roster we could find a few guys who are being drastically overpaid. Guys age, and sometimes don't live up to the back end of their contracts.

and with the sheer length of that deal. it will become absolutely crushing.

dont get me wrong, i would have wanted the pens to kick the tires on him should he have been let go, but he definitely should have been bought out.

If there wasn't the Voynov issue on top of the end of the CBO opportunity, it wouldn't be an issue.

To be fair, it starts more as a discussion about a potential trade target, and how he'd play in a top 6 role outside of LA, more than being bad for LA

Yeah. I doubt he will ever be made a healthy scratch. If he has to become an 8-10 minute a game 4th line type player, I'm sure the Kings will survive.

i wouldnt want to inherit that deal, even if bare minimum assets were required to get him.

i think he still has some use. but long haul, it will be detrimental to a team.

I think they would have if he was just a FA signing. The fact that they parted with so much to get him would have made that a tough pill to swallow.

I think they also thought they could get away with it for a while because they can say he's just the checking line center and hes not meant to score a ton or provide much offense.

The Voynov situation makes it much worse now though

Right. The Voynov issue is a mess. Not sure how that is going to play out. I don't think he's a top 6 player on a good team anymore imo.
