Many fans are impatient and thought we should have a cup by now. But Pegula is doing a lot of great things for the city. It would be difficult to leave California, but sometimes I want to move back home.

I am in the same boat. I don't want to leave, but I wouldn't be opposed to going home. The winters take a little time to readjust to.

A good owner who wants the team to succeed without limiting the budget is a hell of a rare thing these days. You guys definitely have the support there and I like what your GM has been doing (except taking our 1st) and I do think the sabres are on the right track. Just going to be pretty rough for a while.

Noted!

Very cool to watch a market start to turn things around like in Buffalo, and years ago in Pitt. I'm in Tampa now and Vinik is doing great things for the team and the downtown area. The right ownership makes the difference. What Pegula is doing is wicked cool!

To Michael, the stellar looking afro-wearing blogger. I forgot about the only disagreement I had with your blog.

You questioned how Pitt won the Crosby lottery and later said you wouldn't think Buffalo would win, or be given, the first pick. After reading up on Pegula and the Harbor building, wouldn't it be in the best interest of the NHL to "give" Buffalo McDavid? Afterall, aren't the two teams in a similar situation, seperated by a decade? Not being snarky, Pitt and Buff are damn-near siblings.

Whether the system is rigged or not, what Pegula is currently doing is certainly worthy of a game-changer.

We can only hope your right . Most have learned to not get your hopes up. But it's a good ray of sunshine shown in the distance coming closer every day.

Makes sense, as one man is doing so much to promote hockey, you'd think he would be rewarded. But that's just wishful thinking. Not counting on it.

Excellent blog.

And just so you all know, there is someone in the Sabres organization that pays attention to the social media hockey sites. This blog now sits in a very visible place at FNC.

Nicely done.

Your best blog to date.

(frank) Hodge and any other whiners who care to spew their venom.

If this were the Leafs, it'd be okay.

And anyway, it's not like the players are tanking. This team, on paper, looks to have enough talent to stay out of the bottom 5, at least, imo.

As a Sabres fan of 35 years, I hate to see them lose. I never miss a game, and it sucks.

As a Sabres fan of 35 years who has never seen them win a championship, I say stay the course and, if it happens to fall that way, bring on McDavid or Eichel.

Not sure where that Isles pick will end up this year, but even if it's in the 15 range, I wonder how that will compare to Dal Colle?

I've always felt that way myself. Buffalo is a small market, hockey crazed market with a good past and been making waves over that last 5-ish years (kickstarting the Winter Classic and now the more recent happenings of Juniors, draft, etc).

All I know is that when we played you and our announcers started naming off the youth coming up for you guys all I could think was "Holy (frank) these guys are going to be huge!"
It seemed like every player they mentioned was 6'4" +
Whatever you're doing keep it up and ignore the jealousy of others.
Yes it must suck to suck for a year, but the way I see it when we sucked we got Galchenyuk, so it has its upsides.

Good luck anyways this year, but I'd rather see the #1 end up somewhere besides EDM this year.
