there are some good vet UFAs ... sign danny he sucks but would be great for the rookies

Stewart brings more to the table then Briere. I take Stewart every time given the choice.

People need to let the Briere of the past go. He is not the player he used to be.

Again. I am all ears for who you want to replace him. I do not want a team of all kids. That does not work.
- ImThatGuy

This.

But, Stewart is not the right vet to teach these kids. That said, the way this team is playing this year, neither are the rest of em. We need a couple vets who actually "compete" (right, Teddy?).

At least Briere comes to play every shift.

I would say Gionta is our Danny. Between him and Moulson, those are the only two "old guys" i want locked up long term on our roster. Does amyone know if buyouts are "refreshed" every year? Or was getting 2 buyouts a one time deal because of the new post-lockout agreement?
- seedy

Compliance buyouts were special after the lockout. There are always buyouts available, but they will still count against the cap (spread over double the amount of years remaining I think it is).

Does he? The guy has 3 points on a better team (One more point than Stewart). People need to stop seeing Briere of years ago. Not to mention he cant stay healthy.

What does Danny give you if he is not scoring?

Gionta isn't even trying out there. Watch him. If he has the puck he wont put himself between the boards and an opposing player. He will never go for a loose puck. I'm losing respect for him out there. This guy captained the Montreal Canadians to the ECF's months ago.

Thanks for clarifying. Just looking at capgeek and wondering WTF we're supposed to do with Moulson until 2020.
I originally though the vets would move down the depth chart as we brought in the youth. But now im not so sure thats a good idea.

Moulson with a McDavid/Eichel will be a good thing. ALA Moulson with Tavares.

I want to believe that, but i wonder if either of those players will still do a year in Rochester or not? At that point, Moulson is a couple years older. No guarantees regarding his performance.....and we're on the hook for his contract a little bit longer than i would like if he doesn't pan out.

What about the whole "body of a kid" thing though that they applied to Rinehart? You put an 18 year old on your top line and he gets crushed by someone like Chara, he's not going to do you any good nursing a cuncussion for a year.
Unless you're so good, you just don't get hit.

Did Crosby go to Juniors/AHL when he was drafted? That's the McDavid comparison, so it's the complete difference in talent over Reinhart moreso than body, IMO.
