I dont see how signing stewart is at all productive for this team. We want to sign another slacker to be around these young guys? we have too many of those already
- MCGUIZZY

OK, who else do you want to be there? We need bodies and salary. Who do you want to be on the third line?

Stewart is a slacker bottom line. I dont want him on this team going forward
- MCGUIZZY

I haven't watched every game this year, but I don't hate what I've seen from Stewart. He isn't terribly slow, drops the gloves when needed, and it looks like he can shoot a little bit... I'm just not convinced yet that slacker is the right word. Granted, a better stat line would help but that could be said for the whole team.

I think others hit it on the head when mentioning that it depends on what his asking price is. If acceptable, I'm down.

We dont need bodies (im assuming you mean bigger players) we have foligno, deslaurier, girgensons, mccormack who all play a tougher game. We also have players like larsson who could fill a third line role just fine.

At this point, it all depends on price and term. If he's willing to take a 2 year deal on a lower end salary, go for it.
- buffalofan19

other teams want him. hes gonna be a ufa. i like him. not gonna be worth it if he hits the market though. probably get a clarkson type deal.

I know many don't like Stewart, but if the price is right I think he should come back. I think he can be productive while providing some muscle with the talent that is coming.
- ImThatGuy

Why do you want this guy he will just give us headaches for years ..

i don't want him near this team

Not terrible...thats what we settle for

In 22 games with the sabres stewart has 2 points (1 goal 1 assist) is a minus 13 and has zero PP points.

Why are we constanly settling for these rejects?

we can do better

- MCGUIZZY

I agree with your sentiments on Stewart. We acquired him via trade and he wasn't the main target, the draft pick was. He serves and a warm body with NHL experience to get us through. The occasional fight doesn't hurt, but rewarding him with a contract would be foolish. The old Sabres with Darcy and Golisano we probably would sign him and as Sabres fans we'd have to consider ourselves lucky we signed anyone we've heard of before. This regime should be better than that.

Yet you said Cody McCormick can fill space. He has 62 Career points. Seems to be a player Bias

Right. And I think it speaks volumes that St. Louis decided they were willing to part with him right before they made a cup run.

Again. I am all ears for who you want to replace him. I do not want a team of all kids. That does not work.

McCormick is consistant in his role. Stewart is not. Stewart is supposed to be a goal scorer

So are Gionta, Moulson, Hodgson, Ennis, Stafford. See what the theme is here?

You can do much worse then Stewart.

What is the theme? that we have too many underachievers to begin with? so why re-sign another one?

Hes a slacker and we shouldnt be rewarding slackers and underachievers with contracts. He is part of the problem here and we need to move on from these type of players

He is not a great hockey player he is ok. Trade him at the deadline whatever.
Hoping all the guys you mentioned are gone.
You don't need to fill it with all rookies. When and if the cap goes flat this year.
There will be plenty of plyers to fill the roster.
Murray signed the perfect players. looks like he is trying but the guys he signed are old shot or just bad. MCDAVID is the only goal

If that's the case, then you tell him best of luck and go in a different direction, like they should have done with Moulson.

Someone needs to tell Stewart to go stand in front of the net.
I appreciate him dropping the gloves frome time to time, but i don't think his hockey I.Q. Is at the level Murray is looking for in players.

I would say Gionta is our Danny. Between him and Moulson, those are the only two "old guys" i want locked up long term on our roster. Does amyone know if buyouts are "refreshed" every year? Or was getting 2 buyouts a one time deal because of the new post-lockout agreement?
