What is wrong with Ek? As a flyer fan his thread today is just so annoying. No wonder why everyone hates us.

I'm not even anti-Vinny. If there's a period or game where someone can point to where he doesn't look like one of the slowest players, if not the slowest, on the ice, by all means, let me know. I can call up any Flyers game, and I would, because unless he looked like the Roadrunner in the one game I missed, that dude is slow
- AllInForFlyers

He does look like one of the slower guys on the ice.

He definitely looks quicker than last year, but last year he looked awful. So an incremental improvement from awful isn't exactly good.

That's why I suggest getting him on the ice with a couple guys that have speed and can move the puck. Let him be a shooter on a line with Bellemare and Akeson. Get Umberger and VandeVelde far away from him.

I would rather see him voluntarily retire and not affect the cap. At what point does pride and ego get overcome with honesty about where you fit in. He already has a megamillion buyout and 2 seasons pay from Philly, go play in a less stressful league in Europe and be a man about your abilities, we dont need you to sell seats here, retire and do the right thing. But he wont. Get him to play in a Swiss or French league with a free chalet and tax free money and a wine cellar, DO IT NOW>

hockeybuzz is really starting to annoy me with these auto-play ads. Particularly the one of the cello or whatever classical instrument it is that makes me feel like I'm eating cheese at a wine vineyard in France with Bellemare.

He's a guy that put up great numbers in a limited role, or when a member of a duo splitting starts, but thus far, in his first real shot without a legitimate challenger for the starting gig, he's been very inconsistent.

I've just never been impressed. I guess we could call it a hunch, but thus far, that hunch is right. He just doesn't have what it takes.

I've watched 4 Devils games. He's been pedestrian in 3 of them. Including the game against the Flyers.

He looked very good last season. But now that he's the guy, without anything resembling a competitor, he's been up and down. He's started every game, too. Might just need a break.

I thought Pete DeBoer was going to be a really great NHL head coach, but some of his decisions-handling youngsters, especially Larsson, his use of goalies for example, just have me wondering if he's not going to be the first head coach to lose his gig.

Borders on criminal. Back and forth, in and out...can never establish a good, confident stretch, because as soon as he makes a mistake, he's fetching popcorn for Uncle Lou

larsson is another one. i thought he was going to be pretty decent. at the very least, a solid NHLer.

and now, just still waiting for the lightbulb. he is the type of guy i would try to pursue as the flyers. im sure he wouldnt come free due to the pedigree, but still.

danny boy with despres?

young players need to understand they are accountable, but at the same time, they need to realize that one mistake will not get them sent back to the pressbox, or else they will change their game, and then just get fouled up during a very formative time of their careers.

The Flyers and Devils have not made a trade since the current Flyer GM was a rookie NHLer

Exactly. I'm not saying keep running the kid out there without repercussions for his mistakes. But a kid has to learn to ply without fearing a mistake. If he's scared to try and make a play because he's worried about getting benched, he's not going to be an effective player.

yep. and not to start up the pot with the respective sides again, but i dont think Gus was really afforded that chance with the flyers.

Josh Morrissey and Travis Sanheim the top defensive pairing in the WHL Super Series... might see that at the world junior tourney too.
