He has to give his max effort though. As soon as he lets up he becomes very ordinary. It'll interesting to see if he can keep this play up.

Every player needs to give max effort. Schenn has been one of their best forwards for a number of game now.

Canadiens just waived Rene Bourque. Looks like he'll be playing in the A with the Habs taking off some of his cap hit. You don't think its possible the Flyers would do this with Umberger next year?

His cap hit will still count against them

I can live their being no discipline on Nathan MacKinnon. The Aves have very little to do with us. I'd be more upset if they were in the east.

Still $2.4 plus is a nice chunk still to be counted for against.

What I'm trying to say is burying umberger next year is an option. The buyout is much easier to swallow in 2016. I was told the flyers would never do this with all the dead money. I'm saying the dead money really isn't a big deal. Leier or Laughton should be ready next year to come up and provide more than what umbergers bringing, for less total cap hit than if we just play umberger

Should have seen if the Habs would take Umberger for Bourque.

Remains to be seen. Umberger is struggling, and that line is not generating enough shots. Bellemare can help with his skating. And once Raffl comes back, if Simmonds is going to stay on the top line, I think Raffl/Lecavalier/Bellemare makes a nice mix. Providing Bellemare can play the right side.

Raffl-LeCavalier-Bellemare would be very intriguing. I'm not sure what that leaves for the fourth line.

He's not getting buried IMHO, this team won't even sit a Rinaldo when he does dumb stuff why would they let a players salary get in the way.........

I of course could be wrong.

Raffl will go back to line 1 when he's ready to return.

Possibly. Maybe they go with Raffl on a line with Vinny

I do think Umberger would be better off on the fourth line right now. My guess is that he is struggling with confidence in addition to the deterioration of his skill. He could function as an Adam Hall type with a little more offense.

At least One of raffl/Bellemare should center this team. There's too much speed and two way prowess between the two of them. Have to take advantage of it in the bottom 6

I missed the game last night and i'm about to watch the condensed version. Saw the Mackinnon hit, thanks Bill. Roy is an idiot to flip out over that hit.
- 2Real

tomato head is not an idiot. he lost the battle but won the war as the refs let about 3 sure calls go the rest of the way just so they wouldn't have to hear/see that again

Fortunately, the Flyers ended up with the W. That PP was huge.

Absolutely! Bourque had a pretty good playoff run last season, I have to assume he's not done. Plus with Raffl out, it would be nice to get another guy.

If Roy's tirade bought any calls, those officials should just quit.

Umberger's deal is a year longer with a higher cap hit.

Some combination of Vandevelde, Akeson, Rinaldo, or possibly Laughton.

I was meaning to look up Bourque's deal to see if such a trade would be worth it.

We've beaten the mindset behind the Hartnell trade to death but I never did believe the fact Umberger has less years justifies making the trade. Umberger wasn't very last season. It was rumored the Jackets were going to buy him out. Even with Hartnell's faults, he's a productive front line player and an asset should a better offer come along. Hextall was pick pocketed on this one.
