i think the stronger issue to all of this is the fact that montreal had to go to a shootout to beat buffalo..
- IndianaSabresFan

Could make a strong case that they suck as bad as the Sabres do.

If Kaleta is the one hitting zadorov on that play (I know same team but hypothetically speaking) he would be instantly ejected and suspended imo.

Players have been suspended when the player they hit did the same thing as Zadorov. Therefore, I'm throwing that argument out of the window. I'm not upset about the play, the hit, or who did or didnt get suspended. Im upset because yet again, the league remains inconsistent with these things.

For the last 2 or 3 years our players have taken some questionable hits and the opposing team doesnt get suspended even though identical or far less severe hits go punished around the NHL... hits on Gerbe, Ennis and Connolly come to mind.

The Canadian announcers, on first look, immediately called the play questionable and that a suspension should be incoming. Its gotta be pretty blatant for neutral announcers to be saying that.

Probably a combination of pressure and success. Pressure of playing in a canadian market and they don't need to win to stay relevant the way LA would have to.
- Sabresfan-365

That is the core of the issue. I think the allure of warm weather is a big factor too. I also don't think the Canadian markets differentiate themselves from each others much. You've got mega city Canada(Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver) and small city Canada(Edmonton, Calgary, Winnipeg, Ottawa). The big cities are huge, expensive and have the big city hustle and bustle. Winnipeg, Edmonton and Calgary exposé you to longer, colder, harsher winters. What they all have in common is they are cold and you can't step out in public without being told how lousy your pp is doing five games into the season.

What would it realistically take to get Myers in Ottawa?

Notice most every Canadian team has nasty culture surrounding it? Then all these Canadian players who are either free agents or have NTC's listing all Canadian teams as ones they don't want to play for? It's a huge issue and I would like to see a hockey writer do a peice on it.
- Buffalo-Sabres

The "nasty culture" around it surrounds from the lack of winning. Who was the last Canadian team to be really good year in and year out? Vancouver circa 2009-2011? I don't see it as any different as the culture surrounding Buffalo since the summer of 2007.

Finally, someone brings it out.
You are exactly right, that is the point...the almighty Canadians had to go to OT against possibly the worst team ever assembled.

The minivan is more comfortable, but the SUV is more popular with younger guys like Myers.

It's a universal truth.

I'm just waiting for payback. IMO Zadorov was the wrong choice to hit like that.
- sippyd

Thats what i was thinking too. Despite all this arguing, they're both rookies in this league. I have a feeling zadorov is going to get some payback during the next 10 years or so....

Being 6' 4" I own a Suburban for the leg room . Mini vans though roomy seem to be built for folks under 6 foot . I think it has to be a Suburban XLT.

It is actually the cleanest city I have ever been in anywhere in the world . You can eat of the sidewalks. Also because of the Canadian government and all employed there . It has a 6 to 1 women to men ratio . So Pretty easy to find a hottie !

Buffalo is similar to the Canadian markets but it will never be the same. We have the Bills. Canada's identity is hockey, everything else is a side show. They have hockey on their currency for god's sakes. Montreal went to the ECF then gets boo'd off the nice one month into the next season. Leafs are nowhere near as bad as us and fans are launching jerseys onto the nice in October. OCTOBER!
