Welcome to the double standards and hypocrisy of Habs fans. Remember how much they loved it when Hal Gill slammed someone into the corner dasher, purposefully, yet they call 911 when it happens to one of their own.

Pathetic.

I just gotta laugh . Zad is a big boy . He did not even miss a shift . Nothing to see . Just the over reaction from others teams fans cracks me up . It should have been 2 for boarding . But I suspect our blogger was just seeing what reaction he was going to get.

Perhaps you Sabres fans should just be happy that the NHL isn't like the BPL or any European soccer league..you know the leagues where if you are the bottom of the barrel like the Sabres you get demoted to a lower league...

Just my 2 cents

Honestly yes. I didn't think it deserved a major.

I agree with you though, the league does not respect us in the least right now. If that was Crosby or Stamkos it's a major and reviewed

- sbroads24

imo, and it's what I wrote, sekac knew what he was doing...he wanted to level zadorov and when he snapped his hips for max impact, to me, it showed intent to do some serious damage to a player in a vulnerable position

It ended up a boarding call. Imo better than most boarding plays end up with a player hurt. So called disliked player get suspension. Even players the victim didn't get hurt. Some have been hospitalized. No different than an open ice elbow. The intent was to follow through.
All boarding should be reviewed.

Actually, I wish it was. A Pegula owned team sans salary cap would make us Manchester City. I believe they've won 2 league titles in 3 years? Not too shabby.

If Zads has at fault for turning .... How much fault should Sekac get for not letting up or turning away from it.

Speed your car at a wall and smash into a another car at the wall. Is it the driver nears the walls fault for getting smashed cause he was there? Or he didn't brace for impact ?

Basically, tough hit and he got a penalty for it but i wasn't expecting anything more. I just can't help but laugh as well because if that had been the "big mean russian Zadorov" hitting Subban the city of Montreal would ask the police to get involved

(I kid of course, always loved Montreal)

What was reviewable about that hit? Late? Headshot? Elbow? Charge? No early push from behind

It was 2 minutes for boarding or checking from behind, that's why there's a penalty for it.

Blown out of proportion.

- sushi

What was reviewable? It was a hit from behind that sent a player face-first into the boards. I think such hits should always be reviewed. Whether supplementary discipline is in order is a different question. For the record, I'm pretty sure I don't think supplementary discipline is called for in this case.

Otherwise, I think everyone would be fine with the remainder of your assessment if that's how the league actually treated such hits. Unfortunately, if Zadorov were someone else (or hurt more substantially) or if Sekac were someone else, the NHL may very well have come to a completely different conclusion. If this hit doesn't warrant a review with these two players, regardless of the injury (or lack thereof), it shouldn't matter if the victim is a Crosby or Ovechkin or Toews, or if the offender is a Kaleta, Cooke, or Downie. A suspendable hit should be a suspendable hit no matter who is involved or how lucky or unlucky the victim is.

The real problem here is that the NHL has suspended players for equivalent hits and lesser hits. The NHL has also failed to suspend players for worse hits. The end result is that people are going to be upset every time supplementary discipline enters the discussion because they will be able to point to numerous instances of a substantially similar play getting the exact opposite treatment.

Agree

Always easier for the league to suspend John Scott... Thats a pretty sick players security office, not doing their real job

You didn't specify which version so i'll take it. Sign babcock(ferguson) in the off season and draft Ronaldo(McDavid) and build dynasty

I think you're missing the point...it was zadorov's fault that he got his head driven into the boards and ended up bleeding "like a stuffed pig"
- Michael Pachla

It was not Zadorov's fault. If it was his fault than it was Brodin's fault too. Those types of hits can't be made.
