I think it really depends on the development of some of the kids. If Ghost comes into training and earns a spot in the NHL, then one of MDZ, Amac or Streit are no longer needed. So far this early season, I think Streit would be the one I'd like to see go consider he hasn't done much. Good or bad he's just kinda been there. He's also a lot older than Amac and MDZ.

Now if Morin comes in and shows that he deserves a spot with the Flyers, then one of Grossmann or Schenn become disposable. I guess you could throw Coburn into that mix as well but I'd much rather keep him over the other two. And imo I would like it to be Grossmann on the way out. I think Grossmann is the better player right now but there's a lot of wear and tear on that body and despite how frustrating Schenn can be, there is at least still some potential for improvement. However little that may be, but potential none the less.

I disagree that one of them aren't needed. Gostisbehere will still be a rookie. Not sure how you come to the conclusion that Streit hasn't done much.

I think Luke is the first guy to sit when Coburn gets back.
- MBFlyerfan

It can't be Sargent Schultz. He has been more consistent than Luke for sure.

Doesn't Streit lead our defense in scoring and is far and away the best PP quarterback on the team?
- aflyerpower8

I think Streit and Coburn are miles ahead of anyone else on the current D in terms of "safe"ness.

Good points. But right now, Del Zotto is awful dam good with the puck.

I think he's making an extremely strong case for himself. He'll be the comeback player of the year at this rate.

I think if MDZ continues to play the way he is, he could very easily QB the top unit. And considering 5 of streit's points have come on the PP, if you swap roles I think MDZ would be leading our defense in scoring.

And because this is all working under the assumption that Ghost earns a spot, that means he takes over 2nd PP duties that has been vacated by MDZ.

What's equally impressive is how he has found his game defensively since being a little shaky there in the first handful of games.

Del Zotto is playing very good hockey. But he isn't the PP QB that Streit is.

No, his shot is a lot less accurate and powerful.

I thought the 4th line was strong tonight (haven't seen the stats yet) but Akeson made a couple of poor decisions with the puck near the blue line where he tried to make a low percentage pass when he should have got it deep. Hopefully he will improve on that with more playing time.

They were good. And you know what, I don't care about that kind of stuff. Well, I do, but I'm more concerned about the jump the players has. He was up on his skates and involved tonight. That's good to see. And way to respond to the benching. That's how you get out of the doghouse. Those kinds of errors are correctable.

Again, working under the assumption Ghost earns a spot, you have 4 players of the puck moving variety. I'm a fan of the idea of pairs that compliment each other (One offensive minded and One defensive minded/two way.) I'm not saying Streit has been bad, I'm just saying that he hasn't done enough for me to want to keep him over the other 3 mentioned players.

And when considering contracts, I'd probably rather have Amac's over Streit's considering it's a little less money and Amac is the younger player so there is a higher chance that he will play at a quality level of play throughout his contract than Streit might with his.

A Pitt player cross checks the goalie, Trouba dropped the gloves, waited for the other guy to get settled in a fighting stance, threw one mostly missing punch before the refs came in, and as a result of all that Pitt got a powerplay.

Akeson and Bellemare seem to have some chemistry. They didn't combine for the goal, but they had some real nice looking puck exchanges.

Flyers are 6-3-1 in their last 10 games. Wonder if the talk in the Flyers threads will reflect that or not?

Yup. As someone already said, he overplayed it a little bit, and as you said, it was fortunate, but that's an underrated tough save to squeeze that armpit shut on a play like that.

But I'm no expert by any means.

- Giroux_Is_God

definitely a good stop. he was helped by the bouncing puck, so it gave him time to get over before the florida player was able to settle it and shoot.

Bellemare is just a player. He can just flat out play. Skates really well and gets on the puck. You can plug him in where ever, and you'll get the same thing. Same with Raffl. And to a lesser extent, Vandevelde. Need those kinds of players in the lineup.

Maybe not, but I don't think he's far off, he is a lot younger and still has room to grow. And if we're being honest, all the Dman really has to do on that top unit is get the puck to Giroux or Voracek and they do the rest.

They still have some big question marks. The LWs with Raffl out. What D men will sit when Coburn and AMac come back. What the hell is up with Matt Read. etc.

Can't complain with wins though. Especially with the lineup as beat up as it is.

What would Streit have to do to warrant keeping him in your eyes?

I only want 2 defensive defenseman in the lineup ideally. The other 4, I want mobile two way defenseman.
