Does anyone else find it frustrating that this organization was not going to let Manning be the 6th defenseman for 2-3 weeks but seem comfortable with the idea of VandeVelde as their 1st left wing for 6 weeks???

Depends on his year. If Berube continues to play Lecavalier and Umberger together on a line, neither one of them are going to be moveable.

If they need to eat a tiny bit of cap room on the deal I say so be it. One step backward. Two steps forward. Get the guys in roles you want them to be in and free up a bit of cap room and a roster spot in the process.

The killer is that he just isn't going anywhere he doesn't want to go -- that just adds a layer of complication that I just don't know that Hextall's gonna be able to get around

My guess is Flyers hang onto RJ even through next year, even if they have to waive him to play for the Phantoms. His buyout is much better if they do it summer of 2016 if I'm doing it right on capgeek. His cap hit would stay either way correct? I dont think the Flyers will be up against the cap next year like they are right now, I expect another quiet summer
- Just5

The Flyers would be stuck with around 3.5M of dead cap space if they waived and demoted Umberger. That's not going to happen. I expect the Flyers to always be up against the Cap.

Is this summer the year people were thinking the Pronger contract becomes a tradable commodity of sorts? Low cash payout, modest sized caphit for a team to hit the cap floor.

Are any teams even really struggling to reach the cap floor anymore?

Those two together makes sense along with Simmonds. Lecavalier looked good last night. I think he's going to have a good season.

Have there been any combinations of lines this season that Berube has put together that have met the approval of the majority on this forum?

I think the trend I saw this year is that even if they are, they're more willing to overpay their own guys than take your problem contract

Yes, but the real question is would the League allow it. And it really wouldn't help the Flyers that much.

According to Elliotte Friedman, Hextall was shopping it this past summer

Yeah, that was the feeling I was getting too.

Looks like it is though. 575,000 pay out the next two seasons, carrying a 4.9mil cap hit. It could be something that they throw a 6th rounder and the contract to a team with plenty of cap room for future considerations just to get rid of it.

Raffl's definitely earned it this season.

Who is going to play on the left wing of Read/Simmonds?

- wolfhounds

Wow....

Prior to Schenn being taken off the top line and Raffl being put on, how did Raffl earn his spot on the top line? How has he earned that look before players such as Read or Simmonds? How does Vandevelde earn that spot now?

Exactly. So what does that say. If there was objectivity, there wouldn't always be disagreement with every change made,

Why couldn't it be possible? They could bring up a guy like Leier next year, demote Umberger and that would save money on the cap. Plus Umberger would be a positive influence on our young guys in Lehigh Valley provided he doesnt cry about it

That's only 3 lines. Curious as to why you omitted a line? Rhetorical, I already know why.
