They've definitely faced some challenges thus far this season, some real Flyers luck, but with the way the Metro's looking (to me) right now, just based on me looking at it tonight, I still think they get in.

The Pens are gonna get in; we all know that. But even with all of the injuries, the Flyers are right there and nobody else looks like they're going to leave them behind (in the division) at the moment, so for now (knock on wood), I still don't see them missing the playoffs

- AllInForFlyers

I agree. All the talk in the early part of the season was how much better the Islanders were then the Flyers, how much better Columbus was. Hockey teams are judged over the long haul of the season, just like players are. Flyers have suffered a bunch of injuries, inconsistent play, yet they are right there, still in the picture.

But the problem is that you see your valid points as the only valid points out there.

You can have 2 valid points. They could be both wrong, both right, both opinions, both facts, or a fun mix thereof. You fail to see that. You only see your point as valid, and anyone else's point as invalid and wrong.

That's not how it works, dude.

God bless you for taking time out of your life and explaining that, but even I have been here long enough to realize that an epiphany just isn't happening

That's not true. Just because you disagree with a point, doesn't mean you've invalidated it. I agree to points all the time. I just made a post where I agreed to a point made. But really what my main point is, if my points are so wrong, how hard would it be to refute it? Instead, attack the poster.

Your Honor, let me get this straight...

You're hoping the team finishes low enough to snag one of the top couple picks, correct?

And you don't believe that some extra time in the minors will actually be beneficial for the kids in the system at this point, and that they should be given a shot with the Flyers now, correct?

So, if they call up Laughton, Ghost, and a couple of the other young guys and throw them in now, and they're successful and make the team better, doesn't that kill your hopes for a top pick anyway? Or would you rather the kids have crappy seasons and learn that way?

Just trying to get a grip on your mindset here.

I've spoken to him in person and came away unscathed. I'm not worried too much about an online interaction.

Your concern is noted, though. I'll read slowly and if my head starts to go foggy, I'll just scroll on.

Actually it's happened that if the home team does not do well they have replaced the host team. It hasn't happened often though

But most make moves to at the very least make their leagues playoffs.

That would be the best path, IMO. Bring up Laughton. Plug him in between Rinaldo & VDV or Akeson or whomever else, slide Bellemare to Raffl's spot and you maintain talent and two way ability on the 4th line as well as keep a player somewhat similar to Raffl with Giroux & Voracek, rather than going all Maneluk on them
- Jsaquella

Dont touch Laughton. Keep him percolating in Lehigh. A little VDV on the top line never hurt anyone in November.

Here's my mind set because you of all people deserve to hear it.

At the beginning of the season I thought they were a bubble team with as good a chance of finishing in as out. I was not real fond of their off season moves. I thought they could have done more to improve the back end.

I expected Laughton to show better in the preseason and make the team (he clearly didn't, I thought he tried to do too much and his game looked bad). I thought Morin would get the early season look and head back. I thought Ghostisbehere would start in Allentown and maybe impress or through injury find a roster spot by Christmas.

What I didn't expect was the acquisition of some of these patchwork guys like Blair Jones and White and Schultz and Caliocovo to be standing in the way. It seems like they're doing everything they can to keep the tires from completely going flat with out giving a single prospect as much as a look.

I don't want them to finish last. I look at the moves that have been made including trading Hartnell for Umberger as a way to let this team sink. Whether I'm right or wrong the GM and coaching moves this season aren't those of a team that's trying everything to win. They may not be full on tanking but to me it looks like they aren't full on trying.

The prospect thing has become a schtick. I get tired of everyone going on about this player can't develop in the NHL or my favourite from this season: "It's never hurt a player to spend more time in the AHL but you can ruin them if you rush them" when there's no proof of either. I do wonder why you'd bring a prospect up and tell the media he's day to day and you're watching him like a hawk. Who says that?

Ghost gets two games of limited ice time, Manning one? I don't want them to call up all the AHL guys but surely there's room for one. Hell Alt is cheaper and arguably better then more than two players on the roster. Could Laughton be worse than several forwards. Doubt it.

All in all if they're going to tank, let's win the lottery at least this time. Seems to me like this is a trashed season. Heaven forbid they make the playoffs. I've heard chuckling rumours all summer about how bad the Flyers defense was going to be and how this was the perfect storm for Snider and the Flyers to win the lottery, the fix was in. It maybe wink, wink, half a laugh but now I'm watching this... mess.

Maybe I'm at the point where for once I hope the fix is in for us. In the mean time I'm gonna ride out the season.
