We can blame the coach for the system or lines combination, but players not giving a full effort, sorry, that's on them, not the coach.

What I meant was, it's up to the coaches to get them motivated.

Only one way out of this funk Eric.

Gotta work hard for a full 60.

This is on the coaches, not the so called leaders, because they've made it clear by having 4 A's, there really isn't one..

- pete26

respectfully, i disagree, kind of.

the whole 'leaders/captains' thing is stupid on every level and every sport. If all these big babies need a goddamn cheerleader to remind them in between periods :
'okay guys, we need to win the game and not lose it! lets score goals and not let in goals! alright, on 3..1, 2, 3.. yay team!'

My potty training 2 year old needs less encouraging than apparently these multi-millionaire babies do.

'I would try hard to win the game guys, but without one of you guys with a fabric 'C' stitched on your chest, I just don't think I can do it. I'm just not feeling it, you know? If only someone could remind me , with or without a montage, that i want to play good hockey and earn my mansion and porsche. Oh well, nobody has the magical 'C', guess i'll just go out there and suck at sports.' *actual sad face*

BS IMO. They're supposed to be pros. If they need a (frank)ing cheerleader to get motivated, we're in trouble.
Sit the players who don't deserve to play, that's the coach job and only blame I'll give MT.

Yep.

Coach can reward effort with ice time and whatnot, but it's not up to him to get them to do the job they're paid millions of dollars to do. They know what's expected of them. Everyone knows what's expected of them. It's up to them to actually do it.

I'd play Sekac with DD and Pax.
Play the EGG line, last chance Eller.
Bourque out, Plek with PAP and Bournival.

EE, did you ask the players after the game if it was another isolated performance? And how can you not laugh in their face when they say such a thing, when they have not played a full 60 minute game so far, after 13 games?

- fidopro

Think the lines look good.

Not sure why Borque and Eller haven't sat for Bournival and Sekac for any period of time yet. At a plus/minus -9 each they could use a break. I would offer the two young guys 3 games to prove they are a better option before turning back to the veterans here.

The team, good start aside, hasn't played well much this season. Clearly they need to do something to change it up.

Besides a new coach, this team needs Jordan Eberle. What's the usual offer for this type of player? Halak, Ryder and a 2nd?

Why not? Would it be worst than Weise? Let's try. If it doesn't work they'll change the lines again. No problemo.
And the kid needs to play.

Real answer, they don't have anyone else!

Can we sit MT for a game or two? Can we get him on a 2-way contract so that we can send him to Hamilton and move someone up for a spell to see how that goes?

Well for one thing, if the Habs have to grab a guy from the press box, who has done absolutely nothing at the NHL level (other than have an amazing pre-training camp skate where he ripped pucks off the crossbar) and put him on the first line, then they have bigger issues than their coach.

Ya, I agree they're supposed to be, but they are also human.

All I'm saying is that without a clear leader on this team, it's up to coaching to motivate them.

Someone has to.

Of course the coach is not the problem. He won by himslef 2 of their 8 wins.
Again, Dale Weise...
