What the (frank) - rangerdanger94
There was a time, long ago, where I wanted the Rangers to acquire Tomas Kaberle.

Rangers wouldn't even have the cap space to fit in Kaberle if they wanted him, especially with guys coming back (Stepan). |

I'm assuming he'd be on a veteran minimum deal and would be waived if needed. |

They should bring in Per Djoos for a tryout.

As were all those with Brian Boyle jerseys that didn't have to retire them to the closet. I wonder how many people actually had Brian Boyle Jerseys.

Man I hope no one did. That would be depressing. It would be like waking on on Christmas morning as a kid waiting on that Mac Truck or Nash jersey and finding out they were all out. Your parents could only find Brain Boyle's in the bargain bin |

To your point about being real excited about the Boyle signing.
In the last several years, I was most excited about the following acquisitions: Gaborik (coupled with the trade that allowed it), Nash and Richards.
I would have been fine with overpaying either Drury or Gomez, but hated the double dip, and though the Rangers should have just kept Nylander.
I, along with the rest of Rangers' universe hated the Redden signing. I particularly hated that the signing, coupled with the Drury and Gomez signings the prior year, meant the end of Jagr.
I guess the Richards signing is the one I was most excited about that arguably didn't pan out, but I also think that he brought something to this team. The team was very successful during his tenure, and I think he had a lot to do with (but, hard to quantify his impact when the numbers don't justify the salary).

I think I was the only Ranger fan happy about that signing. Thought he just needed a change in scenery. I was a tad off on that one. |

Well I guess some good news, Boyle did some light shooting at practice today - TPC
So he's ready? Because light shooting is pretty much what I see out of our defense on the pp... |

It would be an over 35 deal, so even if he's waived or sent down he still caries a cap hit. |

Yup, him and Redden both...we went after Redden to have someone with Leetch's offensive ability on the Blueline instead of the Rock Chara would've been. |

They were, in 2006, but Redden re-upped with Ottawa for 2 years at that point, as Ottawa chose Redden over Chara. Redden then signed with NYR in 2008. |

No, redden signed in 2008. Chara had already played 2 years in Boston. |

Thats what I thought, didnt think they were both FA's when we signed Redden. I knew they were at one time though. |

Yeah, that was the situation...I just meant when they were both FA in 2006, we should've just gone after Chara for a long term deal. |
