Amazing what "average" players can do on a semi decent team.

But then, what if our defense is absolutely worthless... Then what? are we trying to trade for Myers or someone like him in 2 years?

I honestly do not think trading Myers makes a difference in getting McDavid. Just put Benoit on the ice, and we are all set.

He's not a forward. You are right, he is not elite by any stretch. However not one player on this team is or will be. Not with the way we are currently constructed.

Has nothing to do with liking him. It's the logic behind trading a guy entering his prime. It's the same reason I have no interest in moving Ennis right now. They can be fixtures here when we are good.

Right now, you won't get fair value for roster players on this team. Only ones that should be moved are the ones that are UFA or that are definitely not in the long term plans like Cody Hodgson

I have this uneasy feeling that the league is already onto us and despite finishing dead last they are going to pull some crap and say "Too bad you guys pick 6th". Then Toronto gets Mcdavid and we get to spend 8 years getting ourselves out of the hole we dug.

My concern is getting bumped right out of Mceichel by the league. Then how many of these "Sabres fans" clamoring for the tank will still be around?

Grigorenko or Reinhardt #2.
Girgensons is #3. Ennis by any terms will be a winger not a fourth line center.

what do you get for ennis if you move him? im sure that a bunch of teams would be happy to take him off of our hands and try him out on the wing, but i have a tough time seeing anybody digging deep to put together a package for him. id keep him, he doesnt take shifts off, creates space for himself- with little to no help, and isnt nearly the defensive liability that hodgson is. in a perfect world, he is nowhere near our best forward, but murray is building this the right way, and im starting to think that tyler ennis might find a spot here when its done.
