One glaring thing I saw was that Mason was easily screened. On both FLA goals guys were standing in front of Mason untouched. We really miss Pronger in that regard. He could always clear the front of the net.

It wasn't the reason for a slow start....but it may have been a contributing factor....they slept through 40 minutes and had far to many passengers...plain and simple.

Flyers have been a slow starting team pretty much all season. Regardless of what the lines have been.

Florida got guys to the net, and they scored a couple of goals. Rocket science.

We always play each other hard.
- Panthers88

with 10 minutes left in the second the flyers had 11 shots on goals. in the remaining 30 min they generate almost 30....only reason you won was because they didn't play hard for 60 minutes......a-freakin-gain

It's relevant when you bring the current day situation into it, and saying look they could of just went after a player like Nick Schultz, because he's playing as well as Schenn is today. When everyone knows what Luke Schenn's value was, and what his potential was at the time of the deal. When you remove yourself from the perspective of when the trade was made, and view it from today's perspective, what 3 year's later. Anyone can do that. GM's don't have that luxury.
- MJL

N Schultz is just another example in a long line of them. Like O'Donnell and on and on and on. I never agreed with you about what his ceiling was as a player and that the trade was a bad one because of that. I win.

If the goalie give up a soft one, it wasn't him. You just didn't see the breakdowns in front of him

If the defense gets turned inside-out, well, the forwards needed to backcheck more

If you say it's on the players, then the response will be that you are scapegoating them

If you blame the coach, then the response will be that he doesn't play the games

If you blame the GM for the roster composition, then you are ignoring all of the good things he did

There's no one at fault when the Flyers lose -- because you're not smart enough to form an opinion about what you saw

LOL, well done.

A couple of gems from today to add:
- Vinny isn't slow as molasses... it's conditioning.
- Luke Schenn is a good player... JvR isn't anything special.

Watching this Sharks/Isles game. These Sharks forwards are something else. The passing. The ability to get to the net. Every guy in the top 6 seems to be creative with the puck. It's just really something else.

The fourth line got destroyed.

The late burst where the Flyers had Mason pulled and they were pelting Luongo for shots skewed the overall numbers.

At the 10 minute point of the third, the Lecavalier, Simmonds, Umberger line had the majority of the Flyers O zone starts, and were -4 in Corsi. They ended up as + guys.

The only line was any good was the Giroux line, and even then, VandeVelde kept getting shifts with them. At one point in the third, Raffl had played 11:01, vandeVelde had 10:29

There was a play tonight that infuriated me. Grossmann has the puck and is movin it up over the red line. Has a clear pass to a guy to create an odd man situation. No risk. Not late in shift. He never sees it and just dumps it in. Opportunity wasted. Good thing he can block so many shots and hit so many people.

They dumped in so many pucks tonight...it was awful. Part of that was Florida, but they had chances where they just fired it deep and chased rather than take the carry in

Tonight was frustrating because while Florida's really not a brutal team, when you look as feeble as the Flyers did, Hextall has to be asking himself some hard questions here

It's one thing for L4 to be brutal. Fine. Other teams have brutal fourth lines, too. It's annoying, but fine.

But L2 and L3 (offensively) just cannot continue like this. Neither can PP2.

Raffl-Giroux-Voracek and PP1 can't carry this team. I don't know what it's going to take to get any kind of consistency AND production on L2 and L3, but running that mix of six-seven players out there hasn't been getting the job done
