They had 3 lines playing well, and the 4th line was scuffling because of the shuffling with guys in and out. They insert Vinny, juggle three of the four lines and had 3 ineffective lines.

They didn't have much intensity, and it's foolish to dismiss the line yahtzee as a potential issue.

- Jsaquella

I think it's foolish to look at the line changes as an issue. Hockey is a simple game. If you aren't going to win puck battles, or get traffic to the net, then you aren't going to beat a team like Florida, who is very good defensively. Read all kinds of suggestions about lines changes that people want to see. Then when the coach gets a player back from injury, and inserts him in the lineup. And they lose a game. The coach gets blamed. It's ridiculous.

We always play each other hard.

I almost got season tickets for the Panthers last year...I like them except when they play the Flyers

Exactly -- how the (frank) do you give the coach credit for the 4-2 run that got them to 4-4-2 with the lines the way they were with Vinny out, have the coach change those (frank)ing lines when Vinny comes back, nearly get your asses shutout and get brutalized at ES...and blame the players when the coach changes the lines from when you were scoring goals?

Doesn't have anything to do with the line changes? Are you drunk?

L2 looked horrific

L4 looked horrific

L3 was Couturier dragging Schenn and Read along

PP1 with Vinny on it looked horrific

You can try to shield Berube all you want, but one thing I know is this:

Schenn-Bellemare-Simmonds played with pace

Umberger-Couturier-Read didn't look this miserable

Rinaldo-VDV-Akeson were inconsequential

- AllInForFlyers

You're assuming that the reason why they didn't play a strong game was because of the line changes. Could there possibly be other reasons?

Remember our discussion last year when the Flyers had trouble scoring? Same reasons in tonight's game. Not the change in lines.

Per the Flyers facebook page:

"Trade Brandon and Luke for Tyler Myers! He's 6'8"

So at least we've got our fanbase going for us.

I don't assume anything -- I know what I SAW.

What was right or wrong last year has nothing to do with what happened TONIGHT.

If you can give the coach credit for putting Raffl on L1 and for giving MDZ more ice time, then you can be critical for when he does things that CLEARLY didn't work

I don't exclusively blame the line changes. But to say they were not a possible factor is idiocy. The Flyers were getting good play from 3 of 4 lines, even if they weren't getting a ton of ES production.

Tonight, the only line that created anything was the Giroux, Voracek, Raffl line. The Umberger-Lecavalier-Simmonds line got a ton of O zone starts and ended up getting outshot by a fair margin. The Schenn-Couturier-Read line was ineffective. The 4th line got buried.

They were completely out of sync, showed little or no intensity and got dominated. To say that shuffling 3/4ths of the lines before the game didn't contribute to that...well, that's asinine

Sure it does, because they weren't scoring then, for the same reasons why they didn't score tonight. Perimeter play, not getting enough pucks deep, and getting on the forecheck. Not winning puck battles, and not getting traffic to the net, to get a goaltender off his game. The players play the game. The line changes were not the issue.

Berube on coming out slow: "You'll have to ask them(the players). We had that talk leading up to the game. That's on them. That's on them."

Thoughts on Mason: shrugs "He was fine."

Gee, thanks coach.

I'll give you some advice. Grab your pubes. Twist and pull. Much easier than engaging in what you are about to.

And you're assuming the reason the lines played poorly was not because of line changes.

It goes both ways.

Blaming the coach and the line changes is a cop out. Flyers simply got outplayed at ES. And their PP didn't come through. Simple as that.

Every time the Flyers lose a game, it's blame the coach. It's ridiculous.

I'm not assuming. I watched the game. I saw the actual reasons why they didn't generate enough chances. And it wasn't because of line changes. When you don't get to the net, or get traffic in front of a goaltender who is on his game, you make it easy for him. And he's going to make the saves. Have to get down and dirty in a game like that and get some scramble goals and crash the net. Flyers simply didn't do that. Either at ES or on the PP.

No, copping out is saying "they simply got outplayed". That's a cop out.

Why is it a cop out? Because there COULD I said could don't say I didn't say could I'm not assuming or stating the fact that there WAS a reason or there IS a reason I'm saying COULD. THERE COULD BE A REASON. COULD.

There COULD be an underlying cause to them simply getting outplayed. That reason could be certainly be changes to 3 out of the 4 lines and on the PP.

Ignoring that possibility is the same as me not studying for an exam, getting a bad grade, and saying "I just got a bad grade, I guess."
